Study: Breaks can improve fat metabolism during workouts

American adults are advised to get at least 30 to 60 minutes of physical
activity each day.

People have often wondered if it is better to exercise in a single hour, or
to break it up into smaller chunks.

Japanese researchers found there was a greater breakdown in fat if men
rested during exercise.

The men also had lower blood sugar levels when they took a break.

The study in the "Journal of Applied Physiology" concludes that splitting up
your routine could actually improve your fat metabolism.
