Mountain Wings: I made a mestake

I Made A Misteak
================

So, I made a mistake.

Mistakes happen. Not only do they happen, they are guaranteed.

My father used to say, the only way you won't make mistakes is
if you don't do anything, and that itself is a mistake.

Too many are afraid to try something new because they feel they
might make an error. They are both right and wrong. Yes, they
will probably make errors but it is good to understand that
errors go with the territory.

You will never accomplish great or worthwhile things without
risk and risk generally means great mistake potential.

You are probably reading this by light bulbs invented by Thomas
Edison. He made over a thousand light bulbs that didn't work.
The world would have called them mistakes. He said he learned a
thousand ways not to make a light bulb.

The way to avoid mistakes is experience.
The way to get experience - Mistakes.

Don't feel bad because you messed up with something.
Don't be afraid to venture out into a good thing because you are
afraid that you might mess up.

While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, another is
busy making mistakes and becoming superior.
Henry C. Link

An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be
made, in a narrow field.
Niels Bohr (1885-1962)

We have to keep trying things we're not sure we can pull off.
If we just do the things we know we can do... you don't grow as
much. You gotta take those chances on making those big mistakes.
Cybill Shepherd

Finally in this computer world on misteaks.
Dew knot trussed yore spell chequer two fined awl yore mistakes.

Mountain Wings: One Voice

MountainWings A MountainWings Moment
#1005 Wings Over The Mountains of Life
-------------------------------------------------

One Voice
==========

My wife and I are away on a retreat.

We decided to go to the hotel gym for a workout. The gym was
ultramodern and we were the only ones there. There were five
TV's positioned over the treadmills and exercycles.

She wanted to watch a cooking show.
I wanted to watch a sci-fi program.

She got on the last treadmill on the left, I got on the last
treadmill on the right and we both tuned to different channels.

As we began to run, we both periodically got off the treadmill
to turn up the respective volumes on our TV's. After a few
minutes, both of our televisions were at full volume.

We had clear pictures but the cacophony of noise made it almost
impossible to understand the story.

I now understood why all of the televisions were tuned to the
same channel when we arrived. Too many voices cause you to
misstep and not understand the story.

If you are running (or walking) alongside someone in life, the
story will go a lot smoother if both of you have the same vision
and hear the same sound. When you are on different channels you
both get louder but hear less.

I turned my television off.

Cooking wasn't so bad.

After all, I would benefit from the meals.

Are you on the same channel as the one that you have chosen to
walk through life with?

Let those couples that have eyes see and that have ears hear.

Laugh for the day:

A farmer got pulled over by a state trooper for speeding, and
the trooper started to lecture the farmer about his speed, and
in general began to throw his weight around to try to make the
farmer uncomfortable.

Finally, the trooper got around to writing out the ticket, and
as he was doing that he kept swatting at some flies that were
buzzing around his head.

The farmer said, "Having some problems with circle flies there,
are ya?"

The trooper stopped writing the ticket and said--"Well yeah, if
that's what they are--I never heard of circle flies."

So the farmer says--"Well, circle flies are common on farms.
See, they're called circle flies because they're almost always
found circling around the back end of a horse."

The trooper says, "Oh," and goes back to writing the ticket.
Then after a minute he stops and says,
"Hey...wait a minute, are you trying to call me a horses a.. ?"

The farmer says, "Oh no, officer. I have far too much respect
for law enforcement and police officers to even think about
calling you a horses a.."

The trooper says, "Well, that's a good thing," and goes back to
writing the ticket.

After a long pause, the farmer says, "Hard to fool them flies
though."

Moral of the story: Be kind to others, rudeness and arrogance
shows.

Mountain Wings: The list

MountainWings A MountainWings Moment
#1003 Wings Over The Mountains of Life
-------------------------------------------------

The List
=========

"Too many of us are hung up on what we don't have, can't have,
or won't ever have. We spend too much energy being down,
when we could use that same energy if not less of it doing,
or at least trying to do, some of the things we really want to do."
--Terry McMillan

What do YOU really want to do?

Not what your friends want but what do you really want to do?

When you ask that question the list will have some good things
and some bad things on it.

One of the simplest ways to determine which ones you should
pursue is to ask the simple question,

"Which one of these things would make mama proud?"

Whatever is on THAT list, consider pursing them.

Laugh of the Day:

Two buddies were out for a Saturday stroll. One had a
Doberman and the other had a Chihuahua. As they sauntered
down the street, the guy with the Doberman said to his friend,
"Let's go over to that bar and get something to drink."

The guy with the Chihuahua said, "We can't go in there. We've
got dogs with us."

The one with the Doberman said, "Just follow my lead."
They walked over to the bar and the guy with the Doberman put on
a pair of dark glasses and started to walk into the bar.

The bouncer at the door said, "Sorry, Mac, no pets allowed."

The man with the Doberman said, "You don't understand. This
is my Seeing-Eye dog."

The bouncer said, "A Doberman pinscher?"

The man said, "Yes, they're using them now. They're very good."

The bouncer said, "OK then, come on in."

The buddy with the Chihuahua figured he'd try it too so he
put on a pair of dark glasses and started to walk into the
bar. He knew his story would be a bit more unbelievable. Once
again the bouncer said, "Sorry, pal, no pets allowed."

The man with the Chihuahua said, "You don't understand. This
is my Seeing-Eye dog."

The bouncer said, "A Chihuahua?"

The man with the Chihuahua said, "A Chihuahua?!?
A Chihuahua?!? They gave me a Chihuahua!!!

Today's KDD: Happy New Year and Cinda Puppy

Its almost 4 on Monday January Five,

And in 3 hours Darrell and I will be live,

In the Desert Café,

Inspirational and fun music we will play

To give you hope in this New Year,

And I know, no KDD's have been posted here.

I don't write as much these days,

I hope it is all a phase?

I had written every day, sometimes several, the creativity then flew

Now, at this time, this, I am just unable to do. ,

I am not sure where the creativity went?

And hope your Holiday's were spent,

With friends and Family,

It was just Darrell and me.

Our Christmas and New Years were quiet but good. nothing to write home
about, to tell,

And lately, I haven't been well,

Have been ill, have had a bad cold, almost bronchitis, for the last week or
so,

That is why I was not in the café, did not do the show,

With Darrell last week, last Monday night,

Just been working, not in the frame of mind to write.

The Holiday Season has come and gone, its now 2009,

Hope you're all doing fine?

Wish you all Good Health and Happiness,

The best. that your goals you do achieve,

And hoping more KDD's you will receive.

I am not going to make resolutions, most can't be kept, will make goals for
me, myself and I,

And they I will try,

Do think, them, I will obtain,

And for over a month now, we have gotten much rain.

Work has been very slow,

For Occupancy has been low

Yet, business will pick up in weeks ahead,

And no books lately I have red,

But, plan on doing so on the stream, that Darrell did get,

Me. And on January 7 Th, was the day we first met,

Fourteen years ago,

And I heard in New England last week, they had 2 feet of snow.

Darrell has been working on his Orientation and mobility, overcoming his
fear of crossing streets,

And hope in the café you all will take your seats,

And join us each and every Monday night?

As well as on occasion, visit my site.

I do have some bad news and much I can't say,

Jascinda passed away,

Saturday Evening, it was a shock to us all,

Found outlast night, when Jeff, did call.

I feel bad and sorry to hear this,

I know, Jeff and Keri, Cinda, you all will miss.

However, she now is in Rainbow heaven with all her furry friends , is
not in pain, is doing well,

Is there with Sunny, Tani, Reilly and Odell,

Finnigan, Zelda, Hannah, Topper and Chanel, they all are fine,

Not nine,

But ten

And we all will see them again. ,

Try and remember, the good times you all had,

Don't feel sad,

Think about how she made you smile every day,

At work and at play,

At the office, at home, everywhere with you she went,

She is now, feeling good, frisky and content.

It will take one day at a time. each day it will get easier. she, you
can't replace

That adorable lovable face,

That furry friend, with a tail and floppy ears,

Your guide of many years.

That protected you and kept you safe, led, did lead the way,

You will be okay.

Right now, this is all I will say, except Cinda,Love you pup, we all will
miss you

Including Dougie Dog too.

It is now 4;36,

Need to go, do some housework, have dinner, before we play our music mix,

And soon it will be time for us to open the doors of the café,

For 2 hours, hope you will stay,

For now, take good care,

And another time I will share.

Mountain Wings: Can't we all just get along?

Can't We All Just Get Along?
============================

"This may be silly but could you please say a prayer for
my family to get along this Christmas? They have a problem of
always fussing and making rude remarks towards each other."

The above is a MountainWings Prayer Request

We are praying for families to "get along" this Christmas in the
true spirit of peace and love.

Although world peace is important,
true peace begins at home.

Bedrooms are more important than Baghdad,
for as the families go,
so goes the nations.

Remember, YOU can be the person who makes sure that at least YOU
show the true spirit of Christmas to everyone in the family.

Mountain Wings: The Truth About Santa Claus

MountainWings A MountainWings Moment
#8354 Wings Over The Mountains of Life
-------------------------------------------------

The Truth About Santa Claus
============================

I remember my first Christmas adventure with Grandma.
I was just a kid.

I remember tearing across town on my bike to visit her on the
day my big sister dropped the bomb: "There is no Santa Claus,"
she jeered. "Even dummies know that!"

My Grandma was not the gushy kind, never had been. I fled to
her that day because I knew she would be straight with me.

I knew Grandma always told the truth, and I knew that the truth
always went down a whole lot easier when swallowed with one of
her "world-famous" cinnamon buns. I knew they were world-famous,
because Grandma said so. It had to be true.

Grandma was home, and the buns were still warm. Between bites,
I told her everything. She was ready for me.

"No Santa Claus?" She snorted... "Ridiculous! Don't believe it.
That rumor Has been going around for years, and it makes me mad,
plain mad! Now, put On your coat, and let's go."

"Go? Go where, Grandma?" I asked. I hadn't even finished my
second world-famous cinnamon bun.

"Where" turned out to be Kerby's General Store, the one store
in town that had a little bit of just about everything. As we
walked through its doors, Grandma handed me ten dollars. That
was a bundle in those days. "Take this money," she said, "and
buy something for someone who needs it. I'll wait for you in
the car." Then she turned and walked out of Kerby's.

I was only eight years old. I'd often gone shopping with my
mother, but never had I shopped for anything all by myself.
The store seemed big and crowded, full of people scrambling to
finish their Christmas shopping. For a Few moments I just
stood there, confused, clutching that ten-dollar bill,
wondering what to buy, and who on earth to buy it for.

I thought of everybody I knew: my family, my Friends, my
neighbors, the kids at school, and the people who went to my
church.

I was just about thought out, when I suddenly thought of Bobby
Decker. He was a kid with bad breath and messy hair, and he
sat right behind me in Mrs. Pollock's grade-two class.

Bobby Decker didn't have a coat. I knew that because he never
went out to recess during the winter. His mother always wrote
a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, but all we
kids knew that Bobby Decker didn't have a cough; he didn't have
a good coat. I fingered the ten-dollar bill with growing
excitement. I would buy Bobby Decker a coat!

I settled on a red corduroy one that had a hood to it.
It looked real warm, and he would like that.

"Is this a Christmas present for someone?" the lady behind the
counter asked Kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down.

"Yes, ma'am," I replied shyly. "It's for Bobby."

The nice lady smiled at me, as I told her about how Bobby really
needed a Good winter coat. I didn't get any change, but she put
the coat in a bag, smiled again, and wished me a Merry Christmas.

That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat (a little tag
fell out of the coat, and Grandma tucked it in her Bible) in
Christmas paper and ribbons and wrote, "To Bobby, From Santa
Claus" on it. Grandma said that Santa always insisted on
secrecy. Then she drove me over to Bobby Decker's house,
explaining as we went that I was now and forever officially,
one of Santa's Helpers. Grandma parked down the street from
Bobby's house, and she and I crept noiselessly and hid in the
bushes by his front walk. Then Grandma gave me a nudge. "All
right, Santa Claus," she whispered, "get going."

I took a deep breath, dashed for his front door, threw the
present down on his step, pounded his door and flew back to
the safety of the bushes and Grandma. Together we waited
breathlessly in the darkness for the front door to open.
Finally it did, and there stood Bobby.

Fifty years haven't dimmed the thrill of those moments spent
shivering, beside my Grandma, in Bobby Decker's bushes. That
night, I realized that those awful rumors about Santa Claus
were just what Grandma said they were: Ridiculous.

Santa was alive and well, and we were on his team.
I still have The Bible, with the coat tag tucked inside:
$19.95.

Petwarmers: A puppy for Christmas

Jim Willis gives us an interesting perspective about giving
pets for Christmas. For a variety of reasons, it's not always a good
idea. Families need to be prepared and have the resources to
properly care for a new family member.
You'll want to see the way he presents this point of view.

___________________________________________

A PUPPY FOR CHRISTMAS
by Jim Willis

As Santa loaded his magic sack,
filled with gifts for girls and boys,
he added candy and sugar plums,
and batteries for moving toys.

At the top of the sack he carefully packed
the most special gift of all,
a darling pup for a boy named Timmy,
who from the sack tried to crawl.

Santa turned the puppy around,
he righted him right side up,
'cause there's no more precious cargo,
than a precocious, bright-eyed pup.

As he made his appointed rounds
and down Timmy's chimney slid,
he discovered all the sack havoc --
what the blessed pup had done undid!

Santa looked around the room,
it was clear this family was poor.
He noticed the shabbiness everywhere,
and their poverty he couldn't ignore.

He waved his arms and a tree appeared,
adorned by blinking lights.
He sneezed and holly boughs were hung,
he created a Christmas sight.

Then Santa took to worrying about
a home whose ends wouldn't meet,
and whether it would be fair to anyone,
when a pup needs a lot to eat.

He scratched his head and knitted his brow,
accustomed to granting any child's wish,
and the puppy, grown impatient,
jumped up and gave Santa a kiss.

Santa sat down with pen in hand
and he wrote the following note.
He considered each word, thought long
and hard about every sentence he wrote.

"Dear Timmy, you are a splendid lad,
and I hoped to fill your request,
but for the animals of this world,
they each only deserve the best.

"One day you'll grow to understand
that not every wish may come true,
but I know there's a dog in your future,
who will love the best of you.

"The time right now was not to be,
I hope my other gifts make you smile.
One day you'll be a fine young man,
but for a dog, you must wait a while.

"You see, a dog needs more than love,
he'll have needs, mostly your company.
You've yet a lot of growing to do,
and a dog's needs, I hope you'll see."

Santa sighed as he folded the note
and the pup again pawed Santa's knee.
Santa patted the puppy's head,
lost in thought, absentmindedly.

The puppy worried about something amiss,
and whether he'd have a home.
Perhaps with someone to love him for life --
maybe love with toys and a bone?

Santa looked into the little dog's eyes
in those eyes, love plain to see.
He said, "I've always wanted a dog myself,
and you'll be coming home with me!"

Jim says, "The point of my poem, of course, is that animals do not
make appropriate holiday gifts. Animals are at risk from holiday
confusion, guests, unsupervised children, and holiday decorations.
NEVER purchase a puppy or kitten from a pet shop or a "backyard
breeder." It is much better to give all the gifts a pet will need
like supplies, toys, bed, and even a gift certificate for veterinary
care, to help the gift recipient make a sensible and informed choice
in selecting a (preferably rescued or shelter!) pet soon after." You

Heartwarmers: Forgiven Debts

The best thing to happen to mornings since the Sun!

Your morning thought for the day:
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness
is the attribute of the strong.
-- Mahatma Gandhi

It's always a pleasure to read a story that restores your
confidence in people. Christmas and New Year's is a time of renewal
and hope. It's a time to forgive and forget. It's a time when some
outstanding debts are forgiven.
Today, you'll enjoy this real life story from Susan.
FORGIVEN DEBTS
by Susan Lemckert

It was about a week before Christmas.
My three daughters and I headed out one night to the University
Place Hallmark store. While in the parking lot, I asked the girls to
please wait in the car long enough for me to get my checkbook and
wallet in order.
The wind suddenly picked up and rocked the van. Snowflakes
started falling. It was magical to see snow glistening under the
street lights in the parking lot. Now it felt like Christmas!
Hannah, the front seat passenger, slowly squeezed the door
handle. Instantly, a blast of cold air shot into the van, flinging
the passenger door wide open and smacking it into a black Volvo
parked next to us.
Hannah screamed in horror and jumped in the back seat.
I got out and looked at the Volvo's damaged door. It was no
ding -- it was more like a foot long gash. I came back inside the
van and assessed the damages with the girls. Hannah was still
crying. I assured her it was an accident but that we were still
responsible for the damage. We waited awhile in the car, looking at
each shopper return to their car. Nobody went to the black Volvo
next to us.
After about 20 minutes, we went inside Hallmark asking if anyone
drove a black Volvo with Georgia license plates. Nobody claimed a
black Volvo. I saw a police officer walking his beat on the sidewalk
near the store. I explained to him what had happened. He laughed
and said, "Most people would drive off. If you want, you could leave
a note."
After digging through my pocketbook, I found a piece of paper
and wrote. "The wind blew my van door into your right back passenger
door and damaged it. We waited for the owner of the car to return
for quite some time. I am sorry to have damaged your car. Susan."
I also left my phone number.
With that, I lifted the windshield wiper on the Volvo and placed
my confession underneath it.
"There goes Christmas," I thought as we drove home. My husband
told the girls we did the right thing to leave a note. With a sick
feeling in our stomachs we wondered how much the repairs would be on
the Volvo. My husband guestimated several hundreds of dollars.
Each time the phone rang, my heart raced wondering if it was a
response to the Volvo. A day passed and no response. I wondered if
perhaps the wind blew my note off the windshield. Did the person
ever get my confession?
One afternoon, there was a message on my answering machine.
"Hi, Susan. This is Tom Rodgowski. You left a message on my
windshield. I really appreciate your honesty about my car. I will
get a few estimates and get back with you. And, thanks, again, for
your honesty."
Another day went by. Another message was left on my answering
machine. This time it said, ì Hi, Susan. This is Tom Rodgowski. I
got two estimates to repair the door on the Volvo. One was $700 and
the other was, I think, rather high, $1,200. I will try calling you
again and let you know what I have decided."
My husband was home the next time Tom called. They agreed on
the $700 amount to repair the damaged Volvo door. My husband agreed
to meet Tom with a check at Caribou Coffee on Mallard Creek Church
Road the next day.
Wearing his Willie Claus Santa Hat (a mix between Santa Claus
and Willie Nelson with white braids), my husband set out with all
three daughters to meet Mr. Rodgowski and deliver the check. My
husband said Tom was a nice man, wished him a Merry Christmas and
apologized for the inconvenience we might have caused by damaging his
car.
Several days later another message was on my answering machine.
"Hello. This is Tom Rodgowski. I cashed in a few favors due me
and got my car fixed at no charge. I am returning your check in the
mail. Happy holidays."
We were so shocked to get a message like that! Was it real?
Well, the next day we got the check back in the mail from Tom.
I thought about Christmas and how a gift was given to us and how a
debt was forgiven.

WHAT CHRISTMAS IS NOT ABOUT
by Freda Fullerton

Christmas is not about presents
under the tree that we find,
It's about loving and giving and
being kind.

Christmas is not about sleigh bells,
and new fallen snow,
It's about caring for
the folks that we know.

Christmas is not about turkey and stuffing
and my favorite pie,
It's about the most wonderful gift
that comes from on high.

Christmas is not about getting
the newest fashion or toy,
It's about service, with
thanksgiving and joy.

Christmas is not about calling it...
"The Holiday Season,"
But keeping in mind,
that Christ is the reason.

Guide Dogs,Twas the night before Christmas

Hi Everyone,

Jeff forward me this last week. It was sent to him from one of the
Members of the " Buddy" guide Dog list. Jeff, Thank you for sharing it with
me and hope its okay for me to post it here? This is great, love it! Very
cute. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to share it with you all in case you
haven't seen it yet. Also forgot to mention in tonight's KDD,Keri made
Dougie a Dog bed. Its very soft and has a pattern of puppies lying down.
Dougie loves it, finds it very comfortable and snugly warm . Thanks Keri!
Need to run, things to do and bedtime. I work Tomorrow. take care and
look below.

Guide Dogs' Night Before Christmas.

Twas the night before Christmas and the kennels were still,

with most dogs now asleep having eaten their fill.

The Labradors sprawled out, quite snug in their beds,

while visions of ANYTHING edible danced in their heads.

sthe Goldens and Shepherds curled up on the floor,

some twitched in their sleep and some even did snore.

The dog food was stacked in the feed room with care,

in hopes that a trainer soon would be there.

On the window ledge, one of the kennel cats lay,

surveying the lawn at the end of this day.

Something was different, that little cat knew.

Tonight something would happen, it had to be true.

For that day as the workers had left to go home,

They'd wished Merry Christmas! before starting to roam.

The dogs had noticed it to during this past week's walks,

the trainers seemed just that much happier and eager to talk.

In the mall where they worked through the maze of people and stores,

there were decoration and music and distractions galore!

Most dogs pranced along without worry or fear,

but some balked at the man on the sleigh and those fake looking

deer.

The cat was almost asleep too when he first heard the sound,

a whoosh through the air and a jingle around.

It reminded him of a dog's collar when the animal shook,

but this sound kept on growing. He'd better go look.

From the ceiling there came a faint sort of thunk,

as the kennel cat climbed to the highest pile of junk.

Once before people had worked on the roof,

and come down through the trap door to a chorus of "Woooof!"

But the dogs still were quiet, all sleeping so sound,

as this man dressed in red made his way right on down.

He patted the cat as he climbed past his spot,

then made his way right to the trainers' coffee pot.

A shepherd sat up, not fully awake,

then a Golden followed her with a mighty loud shake.

That did it! All the dogs sprang to life with loud noise.

In spite of the din, the old man kept his poise.

He filled the pot full and it started to brew,

then he pulled up a chair and took in the view.

Dogs all around him, so carefully bred,

he knew well their jobs, the blind people they led.

Some had stopped barking and looked at him now,

while others delighted in their own deafening howl.

Laying a finger in front of his lips,

the jolly old man silenced the excitable yips.

"You all may not know me, but I'm Santa Claus,"

the old man smiled and took a short pause,

While he filled up his mug with hot liquid and cream,

"I've always wanted to stop here. It's been one of my dreams."

The cat had climbed down and was exploring Santa's sack.

"Yes, little kitty, that's an empty pack."

Santa smiled as he drank and looked at those eyes,

deep brown ones and gold ones held wide in surprise.

Some of these dogs, he'd seen just last year,

in their puppy homes, cute and full of holiday cheer.

He'd seen the effects of a pup on the tree,

but now they were here at the school, just waiting to be.

"I didn't bring you presents or bones just to chew.

I'll tell you something better, what you are going to do."

"You all will work hard and the trainers will share,

both praise and correction, gentle and fair."

"You'll go lots of places and face big scary things.

You'll ride buses and subways and hear fire sirens ring."

"Cars will drive at you but you will stand strong,

not moving into danger, not moving toward wrong."

"And then just when you think that this trainer's the best,

the kindest, and funnest person, toss away all the rest,"

"That trainer will begin to ignore you and give you away,

handing your leash over despite your dismay."

"Now the person who pets you and feeds you will be

a blind person. That's a person who can't see."

" This man or this woman may see just a tad,

but their view's missing parts or the focus is bad."

"So you, well trained dogs, will act as their eyes.

You will work as a team and discover the size"

"Of this great world we live in, because you will go

a million new places with this person, you know."

Santa sipped at his coffee and looked over the brood,

knowing what he had to say next might sound kind of rude.

"Not all of you will make it and become canine guides.

Your time here isn't wasted though. You won't be cast aside."

"Some of you will be drug dogs and some will find bombs.

Some will become pets in a home with a dad and a mom."

"All these things are important. People wait on long lists,

to receive such good dogs as you, the school folks insist."

The last drop of coffee had gone into his cup

as Santa turned, smiling at each wide eyed pup.

"The best gift of all is to give something back.

That's why there's nothing for you all inside of my pack."

Draining his mug, Santa went to each pen,

and petted and scratched each dog again and again.

"Now next year and many more years after that,

you all will give gifts wherever you're at."

"You might lick a hand that's had a bad day,

Or notice a car and step out of the way."

"You might help catch a crook or discover some loot,

Or just bring some joy to a tired old man in a funny red suit."

"Your master will love you and treat you with care.

In return, your training and trust will always be there."

After the last dog had been petted and soothed,

Santa put away the coffee pot and made ready to move.

Up the ladder he rose to the door high above,

with a smile and a wave as he slipped on his gloves.

And all the dog ears were pricked as he disappeared out of sight.

"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!"

Today's KDD: Christmas Shopping and Celebrating Christmas with Jeff and Keri

Its Monday December 15 TH at the 5 O'clock Hour,

I just took a shower,

And wearing the soft silky PJ's I recently got and watching a Christmas
Movie on the Lifetime Movie Channel,

My Favorite fabrics are velvet, satin, silk and flannel.

Here light and steady rain does fall,

And how is everything with you all?

I have been extremely busy so that is why much I have not written,

Have been either working or here I have been sitten,

Ordering gifts online,

For our family and friends of Darrell and mine.

As you know Christmas shopping can be a difficult task,

trying to find things that people do ask,

For. Or choosing items that you think someone will appreciate,

Since I don't have the ability to create,

Things by hand, like some people I know,

And back home I can not go,

Due to the fact I have to work again this year,

I made several attempts to select for those we hold dear.

Despite the fact it consumes much time,

I really enjoy Christmas shopping on line,

Especially for our Nephew and niece's who live far away,

They will be excited on Christmas day,

When all the gifts they will open, even the older kids as well,

While I serve our guests at the hotel.

It also gives me much pleasure choosing stuff for the adults too

Yet, relieved when it's all through. Lol

I am definitely not a Scrooge or the Grinch, rather Mrs. Claus,

Because I think of everyone whom I am close too, even those with fur, a
tail and paws.

It would be best to send some people, gift certificates, that way they can
choose something they would prefer,

If you're short for time or not sure

What they like, need or can use,

He or she can choose.

Anyway, that is why nothing recently has been posted to my site,

And also will miss having a Christmas that is white,

And spending time with my family,

But glad you all get to read another KDd.

Darrell and I had an opportunity to hang out with one of our extended
Families this weekend,

With the Bishops we did spend.

WE celebrated the Holidays with Jeff and Keri,

Hung out and said, hope you have a Wonderful Christmas that is joyful
and Merry.

Twas 2 weeks before Christmas and Tucson we did go,

It was chilly, but not cold enough to snow.

On Friday the Shuttle we did take,

Arrived 2 hours later with one suitcase, a backpack and a Tupperware of
cookies I did bake.

Friday afternoon we just relaxed and Keri, Darrell and I enjoyed the
quiet,

And happy I did not have to be at work at Hyatt.

In the evening Keri served Pot Roast made in the crockpot,

And Jeff did another Christmas Desert Skies show; Darrell discussed the
gadget he bought,

And they both demonstrated it, The WIND as well as his talking Moble GEO
software,

And they also did share,

How much I love leather,

And the weather,

How much Jeff dislikes snow, that white stuff soft and cold to the touch

And Keri made homemade lemonade we all liked very much.

The next Morning, we lounged around, did nothing much at all,

And then in the afternoon, Keri and I did not go to the Mall,

But to the WalMart and petsmart, Groceries and toys for Dougie and Mew we
did get

While at home, Darrell and Jeff, the route they did set,

On Darrell's phone to Jeff's work, to to test the GPs,

And soon after we got back, Lasagna and homemade garlic bread we all did
digest.

While The boys Brian and David as well as Darrell and Jeff watched the new
Bat Man movie, while Keri and I Dinner we did prepare, and a movie we all
watched later that night, on the Xbox the kids did receive

Five Stars this Movie did receive,

It was the Fourth Wiseman,

We were up till only about 10.

Before the Movie the gifts we did exchange, at least the stockings we had
for them, it was nice,

And Mew Kitty, played with one of her mice,

I did get her at the store,

And soon Jeff and Keri's gifts from us will be at their door,

They haven't opened them yet,

And nice things from them we did get,

One of which are these Leopard silky PJ's, I am wearing as I write this to
post to my blog,

As well as things for Dougie dog.

The Movie was alright, would not give it 5 stars, the actors couldn't
act, we were surprise,

And Yesterday morning about the same time we did rise.

Keri made breakfast sandwich's and the 4 of us were going to go to the 4
Th Avenue Art Fare,

Yet, it was quite cold, so stayed home, hung out and Keri cut our hair.

Though, we don't do much, we still have fun,

And its almost 7, and soon I will have to run,

I have to work for the next 3 days, and Friday I am off,

And need to serve Dinner, made beef stroganoff,

Very likely I will not write till at least Friday or next weekend,

So, till then my friend ,

take good care

And another time more with you all I will share.

Mountain Wings: What I Truly Wanted

MountainWings A MountainWings Moment
#4293 Wings Over The Mountains of Life
-------------------------------------------------

What I Truly Wanted
====================

My daughter was home after graduating from college and like most
was unsure of the next step. After a few rounds of active
discussion she was still unable to decide. It seems that she
was trying to follow everyone's advice at the same time and no
two opinions were the same.

Like every parent out there who has been in this position,
I realized that whatever the decision, I was going to have to
break out the old checkbook one more time. Everything worked
its way out as everything usually does, but in this process
I started to think of all of the things I truly wanted:

I wanted a new stereo...
I got my daughter a new bicycle

I wanted to join a health club...
I got my daughter dancing lessons

I wanted a fishing boat...
I got my daughter a new computer

I wanted a new car...
I got my daughter through college

I wanted to be happy...
I GOT MY DAUGHTER

It is sad that most of us do not understand what we truly want.

I count my blessings everyday because HE knew what I truly
wanted.

Life is full of little adjustments;
the trick is to see them when they appear.

KTD: Giving Thanks,A virus we had , and a Houseguest We Have

Its Thursday November 27 Th, at 2; 14,

I know, not any KDD's in a month you have seen,

Yes, Darrell and I are among the Living, lol

And to you all, Happy Thanksgiving.

Many attempts to compose a KDd I had made , wanted something to post,

And yesterday, Darrell and I did host,

A Thanksgiving Dinner, with a couple friends, at our Home here

We drank no beer,

Yet, had coffee and Wine,

And hope you all have been well? doing fine?,

I will do my best to update you on what has been happening for Darrell and
me

And have you decorated your Tree?

Do you Celebrate Christmas? Hanukkah or some other Holiday instead?

Lately, no Novel I have Red

But want to read the new Dean Koontz novel," Your Heart Belongs to me",

And I am changing topics in midstream, in this Kdd,

So, I better, stay on task, and tell you, how things have been for
Darrell and I,

That, I will do, I will certainly try.

We went to Denver over the Halloween Weekend,

To spend time with two Friends,

Our Friend Tina whom I have mentioned here before and we have known for
over a decade,

She lives in Northern Colorado a trip by bus she made,

To visit with us, WE saw her back in 2006, a couple months after our
Wedding,

We all hung out ,in a Hotel setting,

We stayed at the Hyatt, Convention Center on 15 TH Street,

And another friend, that weekend, the first time in person we did meet.

Two years ago, Darrell was chatting with a college Student online

She was not a friend of mine,

They chatted every now and again and she listened to our Desert Café show,

And their friendship did grow

It is just a platonic Relationship, they had no Affair,

They had things in common, and stuff, they did share

It is more like a brother-Sister Relationship between them, we would write
some, her and I,

Yet, with strangers, I am pretty shy.

Many subjects they would debate,

And finally this September, she came to the United States.

Her name is Millica, Mimi, and she is attending the American University,

Like us, she too, can't see.

She also, is studying Journalism, and is very Confident and bright

She always has been blind, yet, does have a little bit of sight.

She is from Macedonia, yet studying at the American University in
Bulgaria, its Very Prestigious and she has a High GPA,

An instrument she does not play,

Yet, many languages she does speak

A degree and a job she does seek,

That goal, she will obtain, she will have a Journalism Career

Don't Worry, I will tell you, how she got here.

In the Spring She applied for a job as a Journalist in Washington Dc, she
was accepted from what they did say

So, she traveled all that way,

Several hours, all that distance from the other side of the world, she
doesn't mind,

She is outgoing, friendly and fined folks to be very interesting and kind.

She was going to be an Intern,

Soon after she arrived her Boss had some concerns,

That she would be able to travel safely and independently around the City

Don't think, they had pity,

But wondered if the job, she could do without sight,

Would she be able to Report the news? The story, she could write?

They could tell she was intelligent, knew she had the skills, the brain,

However, gathering her facts, that, could be more difficult to obtain,

Due to the Orientation and Mobility, issues, they recommended she get
training, so sent her to Colorado,

To the CCB, where Darrell and I did go

Where we met,

And it's very unlikely we meet strangers on the net.

Within a month or so of being there, she realized, their program wasn't the
right one,

She knows what she wants from life, after all, she is Twenty-one

Since, we live in Arizona, a neighboring state she took a bus,

To visit us,

And she has been here for a couple weeks now, will be leaving on December
three,

And she has become closer friends with both Darrell and me

We opened our hearts and our home, and have had a very nice time,

We will chat on the phone and on line,

She is heading to Florida, to go to a training Center there, this suits her
needs and interests

This is best,

Will be good for her, then, she can get on track,

Not sure when she will be back?

She will finish the training, complete her degree, and pursue her career,

And maybe, likely, some day, she would like to immigrate here.

Before, she came to stay with us, before that day,

On Election Day, Darrell wasn't feeling okay,

Good thing, we did early voting, and caste our Ballot for the first time,
A good experience we had,

We were very glad,

We independently could vote, used the accessible machine,

The computer talked and blank was the screen,

, and we wore a headset performed our Patriotic Duty, got the job done,

And then flew to Denver the following day, and all weekend with Tina and
Mimi had fun.

Anyway, on Election Day, Darrell was ill, felt awful, really bad,

Was getting sick, no spoiled food in the fridge we had

It wasn't food poisoning but that night by ambulance, he went,

And in the Hospital 2 days we both spent.

Blood work, a CAT scan and an ultrasound

Was performed as well as IV fluids were given too,

As I sat and waited to the Election Results, till about 2,

In the morning, and then I also was getting sick and Darrell was placed in a
room for observation,

While the entire Nation,

Heard President Obama do his speech,

While the two of us each,

Had fluids in an IV, so we wouldn't become dehydrated,

And we sat and waited,

For the test results, guess, Darrell had Gaul Stones as well,

And I am sure, we both looked like hell? Lol

From what the Doctor said, we basically had an intense stomach virus,
picked it up somewhere when in Denver? on the plane we don't know,

And my veins are small, not easily the blood does flow,

When, drawing my blood, when administering an I V

It goes more smoothly for him, then it does for me,

And Darrell missed classes and I work. for a couple weeks we have
been fine, feeling great,

And next week, our friend Mimi, will go to the Sunshine State.

I began this Dose 3 hours ago,

Had much to say, and been chatting with Family, In New Hampshire, they have
a little snow.

Today we are just being lazy, just chilling out, enjoying our time
together,

Nice here, is the weather,

Yesterday, we had rain; it is about 64 degrees,

Sunny, cool, but not much of a breeze,

This Morning we Watch the Macy's Day Parade on NBC and this afternoon, I
began this Kdd,

Darrell and Mimi are chatting in the living room,

And we will have our left-overs real soon.

Speaking of Turkey Dinner, had our Feast Yesterday afternoon,

While in the background, played Christmas Tunes,

On our XM Radio, Channel 35,

Around 11 am Alice did arrive.

The night before we were up late, cooking away,

Made two kinds of potatoes, mashed potatoes stored on a baking tray

And other, Candy sweet potatoes in a crockpot,

We made a ton, it was a lot,

Also made Cranberry cherry relish, a team effort it was

Everyone pitching in, saves time it does

Darrell and Mimi did all the peeling and the potatoes I sliced and dice,

Though, we were exhausted, it was very nice.

Alice made the Turkey and the stuffing and brought the wine,

And most of the recipes, I found on line,

Though, the cranberry cherry relish, I got from work, from one of the
Chefs,

And after tonight, not sure, if the Turkey and other dishes we will have
left?

That we will be alright, will be okay,

Tomorrow, we will go to lunch and later Tomorrow night, Jeff, Christmas
Music he will play.

Yes, Jeff is back on the Air, on interactive, we are happy about this,

His Desert Skies show, us and others did Miss,

And soon, Darrell and I will be Broadcasting again soon I hope?, will let
you all know,

We want to be able to do a Christmas Show.

We had great company, good food yesterday, we are grateful for much; it has
been a challenging year

And it has been wonderful having Mimi here.

Things with my job have improved; work is going better for me,

And Darrell is receiving 2 A's and a B,

In School. Likes best his Grammar for Journalist class,

And miss my Family; they live in New Hampshire and Mass

I am Thankful for my family, friends, Health and my ability to work,to earn
some money,

The ability to think critically and laugh, find humorin the things that
are funny,

For Darrell and Dougie Dog,

And glad, that I have this blog,

This platform, to create and compose,

And that I don't have any problems with my toes and my nose. lol

Speaking of Family, chatted with some of them today,

Everyone is doing okay

Won't be able to go home for Christmas, work I will have to do,

And we all should keep in touch more, the whole year through.

This KDd is now 4 pages long, I knew it would be,

Since over 30 days, none of you heard from me

I did send a Mountain Wings or a Heartwarmers message once in awhile, but,
nothing, I did write,

Have I shed some light?

On what has been happening here?

And Happy Holidays! Hope you spend it with those you love and hold Dear,

And if we are on the air, listen to our Christmas show,

And now, I have to go,

Enough I have said and I will write again soon, when I am able

For now, need to heat up the left-overs, get it all on the table

You all take care, enjoy your Feast,

And wishing you good health & Happiness in the West and the East,

And around the world, to all my readers, to all whom visit my site,

You take care and have a good night.

THANKSGIVING CHECKLIST
by Jackie Gregg

Bought the turkey, got it thawing
Found the roaster after hours of pawing
Through the cupboards looking for
All the dishes from the year before.

Great big platters and serving bowls
Gravy boats and that thing with holes
That holds the deviled eggs quite still
So they don't take a violent spill.

Toasted loaves and loaves of bread.
Diced the onions, oh how I dread
Those pungent things that make me cry
But the stuffing without them, would be a lie.

Celery and sage just isn't enough,
Not when there's a twenty-pound bird to stuff.
On to the baked goods. What have we got?
Two pumpkin pies, that's not a lot.

Considering the kid that's gonna eat 'em.
They're his favorite, though he don't need 'em.
That never stopped him ever before.
Maybe I'd better make one more.

How about a pecan pie this time?
An apple crisp would be divine.
I'll make some Jello, orange and blue,
With fruit for me and plain for you.

The linen's been ironed, the crystal's washed clear,
The plates and the cups will all match this year.
There's plenty of forks and knives and spoons
And other utensils to be used at noon.

Or one, or two, or even three.
The time doesn't matter, at least not to me.
As long as we're together and having some fun,
Who cares if and when the turkey gets done?

The dips and the dunks have all been prepared.
The veggies all cleaned, not a carrot was spared.
There's chunks of sausage and chunks of cheese
And cute little crackers as crisp as you please.

No one will go hungry at our house that day.
If they do it's their own fault. What more can I say?
Except for to wish that love, hope, and peace
Will live in your heart and never will cease.

It's not what you eat. It's not even if you pray.
It's all about the love On Giving Thanks Day.

Heartwarmers: " The Stuffing"

Hello Everyone,

I know it has been almost a month since I composed a Kdd. I am sorry for
that. I have made a few attempts lately to create a piece, but for whatever
reason, I have writers block. This is quite frustrating since writing
is one of my hobbies and a wonderful outlet for me. Perhaps, it is
disappointing for you ? I am hoping I will soon be able to post
something, find the creativity that will enable me to produce something
interesting and worthwhile for you my readers.
It has been a crazy few weeks for Darrell and me. We had a great time in
Denver. Then, we both were hospitalized for a couple days as well as have
a friend staying with us. Will tell you more about all that later this
weekend.
this evening we have had a lengthy but very ,fascinating and interesting
discussion with a close friend. Many subjects were discussed, quite
cool.:) However, now its late and I need to get to bed. I still have 2
more days of work before the weekend.
Hope you all are well and please visit my blog soon. I will do my very
best to publish something of substance that you will enjoy. Take Care.
THE STUFFING!
by Lori Andalee Hinderer

I was about 11 when I remember the best part of Thanksgiving day.
The time was very early in the day. I called for my mother to
come quickly to my bed and she lifted me into my wheelchair.
Mom had already started cooking the turkey and the wonderful
smell lofted into my room. This smell reminded me that I was in
charge of helping mom make the delicious stuffing.
She and I chopped up the nice green celery and the perfect
onions. We then threw them into a hot pan with about two (maybe
more!) sticks of melted butter. I could toss in some sage, parsley,
salt, pepper and poultry seasoning.
Mother had to pull the turkey out of the oven, as she had to add
some hot turkey juice to "our" stuffing. I stirred the vegetables
with a big wooden spoon, until they were lightly brown. Then, she
poured it all into a huge blue and white bowl that was filled to the
top with flavored croutons. We guessed on how many eggs, maybe at
least a dozen, were added. She mixed and stirred and mixed and
stirred until the favorite time of the day arrived.
It was time to taste.
Mom gave me a spoon and took one for herself and we both dipped
our spoons in. She always asked me, "What do you think it needs?" I
would say it needs just a bit more sage, a tad more butter and a lot
more turkey juice. Then, we would taste it again. A little more
pepper. It went on and on until it tasted just perfect!
Mom would stuff the moist dressing into the gigantic bird. She
would put what was leftover, into a real dainty casserole dish. Back
into the oven went our turkey with of course, the dressing. An hour
before dinner was to be served, she would place the stuffing
casserole into the oven.
I couldn't wait to eat everything -- turkey, mashed potatoes,
cranberry relish -- and especially, the remarkable dressing. The
dressing was the most delicious and luscious Probably, because I
helped! I can still taste it today as my mouth waters.
Every year at Thanksgiving that was my job -- to help make the
stuffing taste great! Even when I could no longer stir, crack the
eggs, cut the celery and onions, etc., my mom would always give me a
taste and ask me, "What does it need?"
It was a special time. Not only for Thanksgiving but a special
time for my mom and me. I am thankful to her for allowing me to help
make the stuffing.
It was a time I'll always remember. A time I will always hold
dear to my heart.

Nethugs Message: Friends Close to our Hearts

There Are Some Friends We Hold Close To Our Hearts

As we walk our path of life,
we meet people every day.
Most are simply met by chance,
but some are sent our way.

These become the special friends
whose bond we can't explain -
the ones who understand us
and share our joy and pain.

their love contains no boundaries,
so even when apart,
their presence still embraces us
with a warmth felt in the heart.

this love becomes a passageway
where even miles disappear.
And so these friends life sends our way
remain forever near.

Mountain Wings: The Law of the Garbage Truck

MountainWings A MountainWings Moment
#8315 Wings Over The Mountains of Life
-------------------------------------------------

The Law of The Garbage Truck
=============================

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.

We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car
jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi
driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car
by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head
around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled
and waved at the guy; and I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined
your car and sent us to the hospital!' This is when my taxi
driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage
Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run
around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and
full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a
place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't
take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move
on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at
work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage
trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the
morning with regrets, so...... 'Love the people who treat you
right. Pray for the ones who don't.'

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you
take it.
