Karen's Corner: April 2014

Its been a long while since anything has been posted here ,

over a year ,

,not much I do recall ,

so nothing at all ,

to say or tell ,

wasn't doing very well.

In Feburary of 2013 , Darrell did get me the IPhone 5 ,

as a Birthday Surprise ,

we spent the Weekend with Jeff and Keri ,then,it did snow ,

and in may we were robbed. some of you that,you do know,

We three were phisically alright but emotionally shaken ,

only our tech was taken ,

nothing else ,Thank God! it was a difficult time ,

it took a few months,before I felt fine ,

I was worried,in mode, fight or flight ,

it was worse late at night ,

didn't feel good about sitting here in my seat ,

at the computer ,little online,nor little I did tweet ,

especially,after the 10 O'clock hour ,

when home alone ,didn't like to take a shower ,

thought of Psycho,

The 60's Movie, you know?,lol

and in July ,

an 80's Concert I did go ,

with Darrell and Adriana ,went to the Go Go's & B Fifty-two's ,

and Adriana & I were dancing in our shoes ,

almost the entire time , & the 3 of us ,we did sing ,

Then, in September , a scorpion did sting,

me , and,it hurt a lot! & it was a very weird sensation,

went to the E R ,gave me an icepack and pain medication ,

felt knumbing and a tingly feeling ,

took 3 weeks for healing ,

missed 2 days of work ,my right foot was swollen ,bad it did ache ,

so,it was good the time I did take.

o,in August,we had a party for Darrell ,our friend Amber,we flew out here ,

thought Darrell we would cheer ,

for a Big Birthday surprise ,

we had to tell fiblets ,little lies ,

Tina,Allison & I ,

Our Story ,Darrell,he did buy , & a little ,he did cry ,

he was so happy to see Amber ,3 days she did stay ,

so,did Tina,we all did play ,

Jen C , and Alice also arrived by car ,

so , did Alice and Jen r ,

Dave and Kathy

Jeff , Keri and their Son David came up for the weekend too ,

we ate good food ,swam, & games we did play ,not clue ,

but something called Farkle ,,not rummy ,chess or tic,tac,toe , and Sunday ,we did a special birthday show ,

all Darrell's favorite songs ,The playlist,Allison,she did compile ,

That,did make Darrell smile ,

and our living room was a crowded place ,fast the time went ,

Good times with friends spent.

Though , had some happy times this year past ,

not as much , ,Our Marriage didn't last,

Together,we couldn't carry the load ,

We were at a cross roads.

Two lives diverged,In the Valley of the Sun ,

Darrell & i are divorced,seperate lives have begun ,

for a while now ,we have'nt been together ,

were unable to get through the stormy weather ,

Unfortunately,People change & drift apart ,

so, the last 6 months,we both had a new start ,

Darrell will always have a place in my heart.

Two Seasons have come & gone: Winter & Fall ,

its been quite awhile , how are you , all ?.

It has been a huge adjustment ,being single ,me,myself ,

rearranging my life ,& moving on ,Taking care of me ,& my health ,

and Joycie too ,

at first didn't know what to do,

except go to work & care for my precious goldador dog,

and,That is why, I didn't write here,in my blog.

This is, a life Changing Event ,its been a rocky road ,

but family & friends have been there ,to carry the load ,,

There have been many peaks & valley's along the way ,

& for months,the skies looked gray ,

The rain was falling ,

But thanks for family & friends,writing & calling ,

They did bent an ear & lend a hand ,

with words of encouragement ,they help me to stand ,

on my two feet , strong & tall ,

I couldn't not get through it ,without you all.

With love ,compassion & kindness some of you help me to cope ,

you gave me the rope ,

& the mountain I'm climbing,

it is all about timing,

A select few , me,you did bel ay ,

Giving me support along the way,

You help plant the seed ,

yes ,indeed ,

Like a flower garden, that's attended too every day ,

in the usual way ,

it begins with the soil ,its the most important ingrediant ,

just,as is, the message being sent ,

and how we communicate ,the tone of voice and words selected ,

its the same thing , for the flower bed ,

one needs to remove all the rocks , grass & weeds ,

before,one plants the seeds ,

it has to have the right volume & nutrients in the soil ,for the space ,

it takes care ,attention,& time ,its not a race ,

In the flower bed: using a rake ,shovel or a hoe ,

along with water will enable the seeds to grow ,

with Sunlight ,,beautiful flowers bloom in the spring ,

new life ,,every day ,of every year ,

I'm here ,

to say ,

Life & love does remain!

, The sun does shine , there isn't as much rain ,

I'm not sure what is in store for my future , and my road,it did bend ,

Yet ,I'm on the mend.

In December I went to Tucson to spend with the Bishop Family.

It was what I needed at that time ,wasn't ready to take a plane

bus or train,back East to visit my Family,itwas too far,

to travel,so by shuttle,

not a car,I took a 2 hour trip South,close to the border of Mexico,

exchanged gifts,hung out & the Movie Frozen we did go, ,

it was nice to just relax and unwind ,

They all were very kind.

This past Birthday, my friend Tina, came to stay,

Itwas a special Birthday50! , a milestone,

we had good food,Italian food at Olive Garden,too cold,to have an ice cream cone

got my favorite, Pasta with Shrimp and some dessert something sweet, chocolate I bet,

we talked,listen to music ,played on the net,

Keptit low key,

She just wanted to be here, for me,

not much else we did do,

she helped me with laundry,took our time,we were in no hurry!,

I also made delicious Chicken currie

I appreciate Tina being here during this time,

That weekend,also had some wine ,

and another dinner celebration with my new friends Kathy and Cheryl,& Tina was there as well, Outside we sat,

Ruby Tuesday was where we were at.

Jeff and Keri would have come too, but Jeff had to work overtime then ,

I did see another friend, Jen,

she lives in Tucson as well, we three,spent time together,

it was beautiful weather ,

it was sunny & 75 degrees,

While,the rest of the country,most of you,were,in the freeze!

I'm still working for Hyatt Scottsdale ,

and recently,I have a new e mail ,

address,but using my G-mail account ,but not as much ,

I'm still in transition ,yet,want to stay in touch ,

Not everything is converted back to my maiden name of Hughes ,

and in other News ,

as you all,know, Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft ,we all,need to migrate ,

over to windows 7 or 8 ,

for us blind Folks, windows 8 is not that,great ,

so,work gave me a windows 7 machine 4 weeks ago ,

I just had 3 days to adapt to it ,

and then,the thing,quit ,

it totally crashed,was performing an windows update ,

its in a state ,

and has to be rebuilt ,and this takes time ,

Hope when its complete ,all will be fine.

Something else that may be of more interest to some of you ,

Dancing I do ,

I'm doing ,Taking Tap ,its been along while ,

its fun,makesme laugh & smile ,

I took a class 6 or7 years ago ,at a rec center nearby , ,yet,much,I did Forget ,

Already had the shoes ,so I was set,

I'm very resourceful and found the dance studio online one day ,

recently. I couldnt believe it,its less then one mile away ,

Its Called Wall to Wall,

and though,its hard ,I have a ball ,

I'm not very good,right now ,but maybe, one day ,I will be? ,

Mary the instructor is awsome ,a couple private lessons a week she gives me ,

and that makes a huge difference when learning something new ,

between new termonology and foot positioning ,I'm not sure what to do ,

and though ,I do have rhythm ,I'm not always dancing to the beat ,

Am I in time & measure ?,Where do I place my feet ?,

Do I do a shuffle ?,a brush ?, heel dig ? or a Slap ?,

This is so fast pace,not at all,a snap.

is the next step ,a ball and change ?,a cramp roll ?or the shim sham ?

Still,I'm having fun,I Am, lol

I'm hoping some day, I will be able to Choreograph my own routine ,

and recently was told, that this blog,needs some graphics ,maybe too ,a color scheme ?,

I love Lilac ,powder pink and midnight blue ,

What do you all think ?,What,should I do ?

I can appreciate asthetics,what is appealing to those of you with sight ?

I need to have both,for everyone,even those whom can't see light ,

Whom are blind like me ,

fully accessible I want this to be ,Whether you have eye sight or a screen reader ,the text is what matters most ,

and the message from my post ,

Does it provoke thought or Emotion ?

do they make you laugh ,cry, smile? or grin?

and everything in between? if not,its alright ,

I do it for me ,I love to write.

I'm thinking of changing Karen's KDD's to Karen's weekly Rap ?,

more then,just tap ?,

Karen's monthly Journey ?,Karen's Canvas,with a k ?,

thoughts anyone, which is it ?,what do you say ?

This was,Karen's Corner,now its,Karen's Cove, much in store,

so,return again soon for more.

I'm back,for a second dayin a row,

Dance class I did go ,

concentrated on shim Shams and flaps ,

not wearing my taps ,

Housework I must do,

before the night is through.

Tomorrow is Easter ,many attend Church and spend it with Family ,

not me ,

No Mass service ,no egg hunts or visit from the Easter Bunny ,

I will be working ,will be helping guests have fun and earning money.

Tomorrow is Easter ,Jesus's Resurrection! 3 days after he was crucified ,

for us ,he died ,

Gave us new life ,forgave us for our sins , unfinished work to do ,

My faith is renew ,

our journey's are not complete,

Stay strong ,we all are in the driver's seat ,

The Master of our Ship ,

so ,get on board , travel your own way ,

Be true to yourself ,every day ,

There are lessons to learn ,mistakes will be made ,but do it anyway ,

There is life to be living ,

Make a difference ,your time and love to be giving , I'm not a Religious person , yet ,very spiritual, ,I believe ,

Follow your own path! with help, your goals and dreams can be achieved ,

and Eventually, will die ,sadly,our life will end ,

just as this post ,
