Reminder: Coming Up on Main Menu in a Little Under 9 Hours - CAPTCHA!

Hello Everyone,

This announcement represents a friendly reminder for all of you to listen to an important, two hour live Main Menu coming right up later today.

Coming up on an exciting two hour live program, we hear from a panel of technology industry experts all about CAPTCHA (visual verification) and other forms of visual authentication, accessibility challenges to existing visual verification systems, the balance between human rights and security, existing solutions for providing reasonable accomodations to visual authentication and emerging accessibility solutions.

We are proud to introduce an impressive panel of experts and their primary areas of focus:

* Matt May from the Adobe Systems Accessibility Team will discuss his 2005 W3C note on the inaccessibility of CAPTCHA.
* Luis von Ahn from ReCAPTCHA at Carnegie Mellon University will describe their accessible solution.
* Steve Dispensa from PhoneFactor will tell us all about an innovative, telephone based two-factor authentication system.

The accessibility of CAPTCHA (visual verification schemes on the web) and other similar forms of visual authentication is a topic of utmost importance to the blind, visually impaired and others with print reading disabilities.  Real, universally accessible solutions are going to require significant amounts of effort, good will and out-of-the-box thinking.  We encourage active participation by the blind community, members on all sides of the issue from the mainstream technology industry and those sighted people who care about what happens to us.

Heartwarmers: An Memorial Day to Remember

The best thing to happen to mornings since the Sun!
A MEMORIAL DAY WORTH REMEMBERING
by Andy Rooney

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, the day we have set aside to honor by
remembering all the Americans who have died fighting for the thing we
like the most about our America: the freedom we have to live as we
please.
No official day to remember is adequate for something like that.
It's too formal. It gets to be just another day on the calendar.
No one would know from Memorial Day that Richie M., who was shot
through the forehead coming onto Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944, wore
different color socks on each foot because he thought it brought him
good luck.
No one would remember on Memorial Day that Eddie G. had promised
to marry Julie W. the day after he got home from the war, but didn't
marry Julie because he never came home from the war. Eddie was shot
dead on an un-American desert island, Iwo Jima.
For too many Americans, Memorial Day has become just another day
off. There's only so much time any of us can spend remembering those
we loved who have died, but the men, boys really, who died in our
wars deserve at least a few moments of reflection during which we
consider what they did for us.
They died.
We use the phrase "gave their lives," but they didn't give their
lives. Their lives were taken from them.
There is more bravery at war than in peace, and it seems wrong
that we have so often saved this virtue to use for our least noble
activity -- war. The goal of war is to cause death to other people.
Because I was in the Army during World War II, I have more to
remember on Memorial Day than most of you. I had good friends who
were killed.
Charley Wood wrote poetry in high school. He was killed when
his Piper Cub was shot down while he was flying as a spotter for the
artillery.
Bob O'Connor went down in flames in his B17.
Obie Slingerland and I were best friends and co-captains of our
high school football team. Obie was killed on the deck of the
Saratoga when a bomb that hadn't dropped exploded as he landed.
I won't think of them anymore tomorrow, Memorial Day, than I
think of them any other day of my life. Remembering doesn't do the
remembered any good, of course. It's for ourselves, the living.
I wish we could dedicate Memorial Day, not to the memory of
those who have died at war, but to the idea of saving the lives of
the young people who are going to die in the future if we don't find
some new way that takes war out of our lives.
That would be a Memorial Day worth celebrating.

Today's KDD: Enjoying our Freedom and time together with close Friends

It is Friday May 23, at 3; 46,

In the background, I am playing a Memorial Day Music Mix,

It is TGIF,

And soon will be arriving, Keri and Jeff,

And the Kids too, David and Brian,

And this morning out, Groceries I was buying,

And I am taking a break, made sugar free chocolate pudding and cleaning,
both Darrell and me,

Around 6, here, they will be

I still have a little more to do,

In about an hour, I will be through.

We always have a good time together,

And cooler will be the weather,

It has been over 100 degrees,

But, it has been raining, cooler, about 80, cloudy, with a cool breeze.

I think, it will be good for swimming and cooking burgers and hot dogs on
the grill

Some will have cheese burgers and on top pickles dill?

WE are planning on watching Movies too, on the DVD player, that they brought
down

And

I am not sure what else, may go into town?

They will be here all weekend,

What are you doing my Friend?

Please stay safe, have fun,

Don't get burned in the sun,

And do remember those lives that were taken,

The sacrifices that they were making

To give us the freedom, we have today,

On this 27 th of May.

Well, it is now, 4; 01,

I still have more housework to get done,

Before they arrive tonight,

And early next week, I will write.

It's The New Relationship Connection time, on ACB Radio Mainstream, tonight with Marilyn Volker!

Hi There,

We've reorganized to have a two-hour show time and to let me get some sleep
at an earlier hour. It's all happening on ACB Radio Mainstream, 1 to 3 UTC.
That's 9 PM EDT., 8 central, 7 mountain and 6 pacific. And, to kick off
this new time, I've got my long-time friend and mentor, sexologist Dr.
Marilyn Volker to spend at least the first hour with us.
Some of you have heard Marilyn on my shows and might remember her with me on
the Marlaina show. Marilyn is also the chair of my doctoral committee, and
continues to influence much of my thinking and direction.
She and I are also known for hilarious times as we've worked a lot together
over the years, and had many crazy adventures spending time getting lost,
laughing our heads off. So we hope you'll join us for a good time.

We'll talk about more of the barriers that get in the way of intimacy, and
some of the things the contribute to healthy relationships. We'll be taking
your questions and comments, so feel free to skype, call in, message or
email. Quite frankly, I feel a touch of a cold or something trying to get
me, and I need to stay healthy healthy healthy! I've got more calls for
work and need my strength! So bring your spirit, jump in, and help us all
have a great time. Marilyn has said she'll probably only be there for the
first hour, so in the second hour, we'll see what we want to talk about.
I've got some ideas and hope you will too!

Today's KDD: Chatting with an Old Friend and getting ready for the Memorial Day Weekend

It is 9; 34 on Thursday May 22,

How are you?

It is 73 degrees,

Much nicer, not as hot, with a cool, moderate breeze.

It will be 85 for the High and 60 for the low,

How are things, would like to know.

I am enjoying my vacation so far, but, it is going really fast, yet they
always do,

And not much new,

Probably because, I have been a writing fool? lol

And recently, we have been swimming in the pool,

This week, for the first time this season we can swim until about October
which is a long time,

And recently, we found another old friend online,

She just wrote yesterday,

We met her at Safeway,

Her name is Maggie, she use to work there; she recently saw my site,

Has red some of what I do write.

Also yesterday, I chatted with my good friend, Lynda, from the east coast,

Who will also check out my dose,

These posts,,this blog of mine,

And life for her and Drew is going fine.

They live in Mass,

And though, several months can pass

It seems like yesterday, no time is lost, time, does sit still,

And not sure when I will see them next? when I will

We couldn't talk long, had to take her Daughter Bell to her class, she is
taking dance,

And Lynda said, she will check out this site, when she has a chance,

So Lynda, if your reading this, what do you think, of all the doses I do
compose?

And hope you do more shows and continue to teach,

Theater classes, wish, I could go to the beach.

I remember our College days at Bradford, hanging out, you know

We all had fun, but, I don't miss, all that feet of snow.

Sorry, I did not get an opportunity to chat with Drew as well,

And I will keep you up to speed as to what is happening here for us and at
the Hotel

And very glad, things are going well there,

And if you like a comment or two, here, do share,

Or send me mail okay?

And enjoy the movie, you go see today.

Mary Beth, wish I could here from you too,

If you see this what is new?

Give us a call

And is Emma, starting Kindergarten in the fall?

Well, it is now, 10; 01,

And I really must run,

I have housework to get done

And other things to do alright?

Our Friends, Keri and Jeff from Tucson, and their Kids Brian and David, will
be coming down tomorrow night

For the entire weekend, will be here until Monday afternoon,

And I have a Safeway delivery, it should come before noon

So, do take care all, take it easy, alright?,

And since we are having company, don't know, next when I will write

Maybe, tomorrow sometime, I might?

Definitely by the end of this weekend

For now, take care Friend.

Last Kdd for Today: Darrell's Mom's Birthday, Accessible Money and American Idol

It is still Wednesday, May 21, at 9; 27,

And I am still reading, the Novel," Doorway too Heaven",

I know, this is the second KDD for today,

And at the moment, I don't have much to say,

Maybe, because, yesterday, it was all said? lol

I know, lately, much you have red,

Have to read?

And Housework, I need to do,

After, this dose for you all is through,

Is complete,

And today, there will be heat.

I think, it will be close to 108,

And this morning, I attempted to reach my Sister Mary Beth, she lives out of
state.

We seem to play phone tag; I call her once in awhile,

And are any of you, going to watch "American Idol"?

Tonight? The Tale of the David's, the finale?

And Darrell's Mom, will soon will be leaving the Valley,

Get away for the summer; travel North about 18 miles, near Flagstaff, not
Prescott,

Since, herein Phoenix, it will be unbearably hot,

And I will not be watching "American Idol", I will not.

I never, seen a single show,

And early June, Darrell's Mom,Bettylou and Husband Hugh, North, they will
go.

Today, is her Birthday, another year she will celebrate,

And it was her Granddaughter, Wendy, I was referring too, in last night's
Kdd, the one, that was written late.

We will be calling Darrell's Mom, later today to send her Many Birthday
wishes,

And a little while ago , I cleaned up the dishes.

I am sitting here, having coffee in this bear mug, we were given by Keri
and Jeff, it is very cute Darrell's Mom, loves Bears, and she has collected
many

And today, another day, hot and sunny,

She has collected many over the years, and my Sister Tara likes to do that
too, at least she had, when we were growing up,

And likely, I will need another cup,

Of coffee, before the Morning is gone, and it is noon,

And on the radio, plays a Don Henley Tune,

"Dirty Laundry", I don't have any to disclose, in the Metaphorical sense,

and even if I did, I think, this KDD, would be way too Intense? lol

Yet, I do have dirty laundry that will have to be done soon sometime

And hope your all well? doing fine?

Here, at my computer I am sitten

And the Kentucky Primary, was won by Clinton

And Obama expected to win Oregon, did he?

Not up to date with that, Politics, isn't an interest for me,

Though, it should be.

I don't have anything, that is really, humorous and funny

But, I have an update about Accessible Money

The Department of Treasury will soon have to make paper bills, accessible,
for us, who cannot see,

In different sizes, shapes, colors, they will have to be

I was quite happy, when I heard this News, It is something, we, the blind,
do need,if,more independence, we will gain, isn't that great?

Money, we will be able to differentiate

I think so,well,it is now,10, and I need to go,

Things I have to do,alright?

Another time, I will write.

Today's KDD: Wendy and you my Readers?,

It is still Tuesday May 20, at 11; 08,

I know, I said, this was it for the day, but, this could not wait,

I am feelling in the mood to write okay?

I promise, this is the last one for the day.

Even if I had more material, it will still get to you tomorrow, May
twenty-one,

Before, it was done.

Earlier, I was looking at my blog my site,

And noticed, a comment someone did write,

It was written yesterday,

But I noticed it tonight, today.

I don't know who my readers are, how many, and your names, most of you
visit and stay very quiet

I know my closest friends read Darrell, Jeff,Tina and Nickie , and my
Sister Tara, maybe, people from Hyatt?

That, I don't think so?

Who Knows?

I don't know whose eyes are watching? and who is listening with their Ears?

And before working for Hyatt, I was employed at Sears.

I am not saying, I need to know, everyone who visits my site,

Yet, I would like to know more people who, look at the posts I do write,

Know more about the ones, who do take a peek,

Every week,

And definitely, the ones who pay attention, every day,

I know, there are some, who read my blog and I don't know you at all,
nothing you say,

Maybe, once in awhile, send a comment my way.

This crossed my mind, when I saw a particular comment tonight

Someone named Wendy, did write,

She has written before, but not much yesterday she did say, Just "Hi,, that
was it,

I thought, as I did sit,

Sat, Is this Wendy, Darrell's Niece from Illinois

Are you reading my KDD's too? If so, do they, you enjoy?

Then, I thought, so much more about me, you know. And you, I don't know
much

And would you like to keep in Touch?

If you're interested, I would like that, alright?

But, I don't have an e-mail address to write

Or a phone number, nothing since we saw you last in December,

That, you may remember?

It was at Your Mom's Visitation on December 2,, that was the date,

And a few weeks later, you left the state.

Wendy, if you're reading this, would like to hear from you,

And Frank too,

How are you and Mark? Hope all is going well,

If you like do tell,

Would like to know

Write the editor@blindaccessjournal.com address, it will get to Darrell
and me there,

If you like, do share,

Your contact information and anything else , you may want to say,

And how is Donny? is he okay?

Keeping in touch now and then would be nice, very cool,

And are you in School?,

Or working?what is new?

And, if you're up to date, you know, soon, Darrell, too will be in
School.

I know, a long time ago, you Guys grew up together,

And I am sure, in Illinois, your having much nicer weather

Your probably surprised that a KDD was written about you? And That,
you,are on my mind?

You never know, here, what you will find,

I have written on just about every subject that you can think of,

Definitely, about the ones I love,

And things I am interested in and that are hobbies of mine,

And most of the time, when I write, I am doing fine

I write about, stories I hear about in the News,

Or things I would like to do,like write a novel, take a cruise.

Often, I can not compose a KDd, when, I am feeling down,

Or when, family and friends are visiting in town,

Or I am visiting family and friends,

It is then, that I don't usually send,

A dose of the day

It may take days or weeks before I send one,

But always every month, there are never any, none

In April, I had only 8,

Yet, I did what I could for you my readers, some of you have come to depend

Especially my family and friends.

It is almost midnight; want to send this, before the clock strikes 12not
worried about turning into a pumkin, alright?

It is just; I need to get to sleep for the night,

Take good care and stay well, for now, this is the end,

And if you're the same Wendy, a message, do try and send.

well,it is midnight, almost 12;15,

and this post, to my blog, hasn't yet seen,

but, will in a minute, then you,it can be red,

and me, I am now, finally going to bed.

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Last KDD for Today: Eating Mail and Reading Dinner lol

I said to Darrell When will you be ready to eat mail?, Yes, that is what I
did say,

And no, I had nothing to drink today,

Was thinking about making "dinner" and "reading mail tonight?

So, it was a Freudian slip, alright?

I know, it has happened to you, and definitely to me,

Eating mail, would you like to see

Wouldn't that be an interesting appetizer at a party, if it, you did
serve?

That would take a lot of nerve,

To serve, an assignment you had written rather then garlic bread,

Then, a paper, your professor was supposed to have red? lol

It would be better, if you offered, Oysters or sardines to your guest,

For me, that would be as bad as paper to digest.

Certainly not at all like cheese and crackers and jumbo shrimp cocktail,

That is delicious, certainly better, then eating the mail,

But, really I wouldn't know I am just imagining this, how it would taste,

Much, paper, would really go to waste,

And if you were in our house, you wouldn't eat "for several weeks at a time,

And dinner, you may read online,

Or in a paperback book, on a stream ,Bookport,or Braille lite

Morning, noon or night.

If you were to eat mail here, you would starve, weeks would pass,

What a long fast! lol.

What do you think of all that?

You would lose lots of fat,

This could be a new Diet , a new entree

Can be eaten at anytime of day

Would not be easy to digest, like cold pizza and soda in the morning or
liver and Onions for lunch,

Paper, would be better to munch

Don't you think?, more then that ham and cheese?

Wasted would be more trees,

We already waste a ton, already, with the junk we all receive

In our snail mail box,

Think, paper, would taste better, then old dirty socks. Lol

If you were able to " read dinner", you would want smell vision. Smell
all your choices and options for you and your family,

Windows 2000,you would need, it would have to be

Smell vision software ,you would have to install

For all the entrees, if you want to get all,

You would have to make sure, your computer clock is in the correct time
zone,

Because, for breakfast, you may get a ice cream cone,

And for dinner you may get French toast ,

If it thinks you're on the east coast

And you are not,

If your settings are not set right, you can get a meal that is cold, when it
is supposed too be hot.

Make sure, you have a sound card too,

To hear, the food sizzle, and know , when it is through,

Be careful, not too burn it. this is not a game,

Maybe, there will be a flame ??

Don't place, your card, in the cd holder, it isn't for your coffee mug or
coffee cake,

If you did, it is a mistake,

Don't place your credit card there as well

It may get stuck, and then, you have to call dell,

Or Microsoft or gateway,

I am sure, it will not make your day

Enough of all this, I am silly indeed,

A Mindless Kdd you, just did read.

Darrell did eat dinner, had Lasagna not a dish in the crockpot,

And Mail, we did read tonight, there was a lot!

Our friend Marion was here, for over an hour, about 90 % of it was trash
in the garbage it went,

Made a huge dent,

In our pile for us, not for you,

Here is another ridiculous message that I just sent to you. lol

Well, I have written enough for one day, for awhile,

Hopefully, this made you laugh? Or at least made you smile ?

Take good care, alright,

And have a good night.

Today's KDD: Moved here 9 Years ago and Weekend Plans

It is Tuesday, May 20 TH, at 10; 28,

Hope your day is going great?

That you're keeping cool?

Later today, we will go swimming in the pool.

Nine years ago today, I moved here, to this state,

And at Hyatt, have been working there,8.

It is hard to believe, I have been living here for almost 10 years, that is
awhile,

It was a crazy time, still had to do my deposition , thought, my injury
case, would have gone to trial,

The accident, the fall off the ledge, was in August of 96,

And now, listening to a 80's music mix,

Duran-Duran,does play,

And my life is different today.

Yet,a year later, and we finally did settle, it was all over 4 years, it
took,

And I am now reading a new book,

The " doorway to Heaven" I want to read some of Iris Jo Hanson, her novels,
look interesting indeed,

I think next, some of her stuff I will read.

I was working as a receptionist at a Plasma Center in Lakewood Colorado ,
It was alright for awhile, just fine,

But, , my job, I did resign,

Darrell was working at ASU,

We knew other things we needed to do.

Life is pretty good, can't complain,

Wish, it was cooler, like in Maine,

And wish in a way, I could take a vacation but, My Boss, did not think I
could go, until a later time,

I think, a group or two, cancelled, so she said, that would be fine

And we just got two new assistant managers to help us out herein
housekeeping, whom now can cover for me,

You see,

So, that is why, it all happened so fast, so, my vacation after all, I was
able to take,

But, no plans out of town, I could make

Yet, a good one, it will be still,

And received an e-mail from my Sister Tara, My Sister Mary Beth will,

Be spending the Memorial Day weekend, her and the girls, Emma and Marin
too,

And later in the summer they will go to camp, Bobby, Jo Anna and Katie My
Niece's and Nephew,they will do.

Bobby and Jo will be counselors and Katie a camper; they all will have fun,

And from what Tara said, last week, 3 prizes, Katie did won

In the Fishing Derby, one for smallest fish,

And would love to spend time with you Guys, we wish,

Definitely another time, time goes so fast,

And I don't like to fish, though, the fishing Rod, I like to cast,

Yet, not stand and wait,

For the fish to hook your bate.

Hope you all have a good time, this coming weekend,

My love to you Guys, Tara and Family, we do send,

I will call you all soon,

Here it is an hour before noon.

We are going to have Company,

Jeff, keri, Kids and Darrell and me,

can't forget about Dougie and Jascinda too,

Don't know exactly ,everything we will do?,

Know we will swim in the pool, cook on the grill,

Maybe, likely watch a movie we will,

two,or three?,

Fun,it will all be,

maybe a free Movie in the Park, there we will go?

Yet, that, I don't know?

hope cooler will be the weather,

but, as always, will enjoy our time together,

They are close friends of ours,

and I think, we will get some rain showers,

They will be here until Monday, sometime,

I am sure,partof the time,

Darrell and jeff, will be online?

while Keri and I are out shopping or chatting, that, we often do,

The Guys, need to have their time too.

Tara and Gang,be careful! whatever you do,

Are you going to barbecue?

Are you going to the Cape?

To escape?

Get away?

Hope Jo, had a good time, in Cape Cod, hope she had fun

I should go, have housework to get done,

Yesterday errands I ran, so much I need to do here, and I want to stay
cool,

And last night, we went swimming in the pool,

It is always cold, when I first get in, but then I did adapt, we were in
there for an hour,

Then, came in, took a shower,

Watched home Improvement and did read, did not write,

That was our night.

It is now, 11; 03,

For now, this is it from me,

Take care, need to get on my way,

Hope you all have a super day.

Monday, May 19, 2008

Today's KDD: Call that number on your screen,More on Veggie Tales and the Home Makeover show

It is Monday, May 19,at 9;36,

And I am here listening to Debbie's Good Energy Mix,

On the ACB Radio station,

Enjoying my vacation,

So far, it has been good, nowhere I have gone,

But haven't had to get up before dawn.

I did not have time to plan this vacation, was at the last minute, just a
couple days, before it was to begun,

Still, it will be relaxing and fun.

Call the number on your screen, the voice does say,

As you hear Sarah Mc Lachlan's Angel song play,

Rescue these animals, find them a home, God's Creatures, very small,

If your able to help, call,

Yet, I can not read the screen ,wish they would give us the number on the
air,

Verbally, the telephone number, I wish they would share,

With us, more can assist, do more for the cause,

Save the animals, with Tails and paws.

I would love to donate and save a dog or cat from their abusive
environment,

Or animals neglected, something worthwhile, my dollars would be spent,

But, I can not call, not sure if the right fund raiser I have found on
the Net,

Because, I cannot read the "number"on my TV set.

I wanted to write Sarah Mc Lachlan,,and tell her about this,

That, the number I always do miss,

Because I am unable to see,

With my eyes,

I cannot help. that it would be wise,

To start, verbalizing the number for us all,

So, those of us, who want to lend a hand, can call.

I found out much about her, read her Biography,

Her top hits,MP3's,I also did see,

But, nothing about this all, nothing I found last night,

So, an e-mail, I can not write,

It was quite frustrating indeed,

When anyone says, do read,

The number on your screen, and it, you cannot see,

Don't people know, we are alike, you and me?

We may not be able to see, but do watch T.V,

I have had people ask me,

Do I watch TV?, how can I without sight?

Perfectly good question,alright,

And I would rather someone ask me, then wonder, be ignorant,

Want people to realize, that, I am not really any different,

Folks with a disability,

Again, we are like you and me.

I heard more about the " Veggie Tales" last night, so writing more,

There is a DVD called, " lessons from the Sock Drawer"

It is part of the Veggie Tale" series, there are books and music, that did
you know?

Amazon, you can go,

To read about it all,

Sounds like very young children would have a ball.

Last night, there was a very good Home Makeover show, possibly the last
one?

Not sure, if the series is done?

I hope that is not the case,

Unlike most programs, that one, is not a waste,

I really like Ty and the gang,

Happiness, to many they brang,

These last two years,

Every show, people would cheer,

They built a new home, in every state,

I think, this is wonderful, think it is great.

They build a new home for those who needed it most,

From Coast to Coast

From New York to L A

Effecting people every day,

And beyond

They, I am quite fond,

They are a great team,

Fulfilling people's dreams,,

Changing lives,

Certainly much better then watching " Desperate Housewives", lol

Wish, that, they would take off the air,

Not this, they all really do care,

They have a heart, they do so much for the community,

More, I'd like to see,

So, I hope, this is not the end?,

That TY and the team, other places, they send?

That ,they will go,

You know?

And take some of the other things off the schedule, some other programs,
should go,

Like these Reality shows, "Bachelerette and Bachelor",

Shouldn't be anymore,

And most of the comedy's, are not very good, it isn't what I want to see,

Do you agree?

Ty and the team went to New Orleans, in this last one,

They always look like they are having fun,

Yet, I know, it is a lot of hard work for them all,

To complete each home in 7 days,

Much money, they always do raise.

Not only did they build a new home in last night's episode,

They did more, to carry the load,

They built a new Church as well, that is great,

And Sears, did donate,

So much, for the Food Bank,$25,000, for that Church, of theirs,

I am sure, to many, it brought tears,

It was one of their best, I must say, and sometimes, I do cry,

Hope, they did not say goodbye?,

Will continue it,

For me, this show, is a hit.

I heard there is another Extreme Makeover show, not sure when, that would
be cool,

I think, they will help a school

That will be great,

Not sure when, is the date,

Do you?

And soon, this KDd,will be through,

I have been writing for awhile okay?

Have things to do today,

Take care, and I will write again, hang in there, alright?

Another time, I will write.

Today's KDD: My in-box,no Mail,Veggie Tales" and other things on my mind

It is Sunday, May 18, at 3;44,

My in-box is no more,

There are no messages in there at this time,

Hope your all well?, doing fine?

I had several messages in my box not in folders, not organized, subjects
together,,

And very hot is our weather,

Today, it will be 102,

And likely reach 110,or 112 by the time the week is through?

Actually, do recall, it will get down to80 by the weekend, and what is new
with you friend

?

I heard about something cute check it out, called" Veggie Tales", children's
Movies and books,

And lonely, my in-box looks,

Nothing nada, zip,That is a good thing indeed,

It will be much easier to read

Maybe, I will keep it organize? Put each message into the proper folder

I think, by the weekend, it will be much colder

Likely at least 10 degrees

There will be sun but a little breeze

Maybe, a rain shower,?

Did not take long, about an hour,

To organize my mail, but, I don't need to be on so many lists I can google
what I need,

So much less to read,

And sit in my box, some are even still unread," for another time", another
" day",

Is what I do say.

However, I will unsubscribe to some of it, no longer, will I receive, that
will be cool,

And soon, maybe, Darrell and I will go swimming in the pool?

I really have too much crap, so much clutter,

And I do like peanut butter,

But, not sourcroute and refried beans,

Yet, I do like leafy greens,

Especially salads, just about every day One I will have ,I will,

Don't like soup, usually only when I am ill.

I really would like to get away, go North, like to Sedona, Pinetop or even
Payson,

And when I was much younger, I use to watch Perry Mason,

I love a good Mystery,

The Ocean, the Sea

Heard about an author named Iris JO Hanson,

And most of you know , I like Dancing,

And some call me the Dancing Queen, yet, not as much as in years gone by,

And I definitely ,don't like rye,

Or anything with seeds,

Or to garden, to pull weeds,

They make your hands dirty the nails, the dirt, is under,

Don't like lightening and Thunder,

And Electricity,

But, we all know, I love to write these KDd's. lol

I never been to the places up North, but, would love to go,

Even San Diego,

But don't know?,

When, we will see our friend, her youngest Daughter has been in trouble with
the Law Drugs she was addicted too,

She is only 22,

Was arrested and in Jail, but not at this time,

I hope she straightens herself out, will be fine?,

Head down the right road?,

Her Mom, our friend, is certainly carrying a heavy load

Under much stress,

The entire situation was a big mess,

I think things, were starting to improve but, she had a set back, her
probation, she did violate,,

So, our trip out there to visit, will have to wait

Her sentencing was the other day,

Hope she will be okay?,

She is my God Daughter, I worry about her, hope she will be alright in the
long run?,

And this Kdd, I need to be done.

It is now, 4;11,

And I want to read more of my book, the " doorway to Heaven",

I really ,haven't gotten very far,not into the plot,

And wish, it wasn't so bloody hot

I like it much more when it is cool,

And Darrell is looking forward to going back to school,

We will find out soon, if he will be readmitted to ASU,

And about 2 more years, he has left to do,

But, will try and work full time, if he can,

So, not sure when,

His degree he will complete, but,if there is a " will, there is a Way"

And do take care, have a great day

And if you want to send,

Me any mail, would love to hear from you friend,

Those who have my address, if you like, send one my way,

Or you my readers, send a comment if you like too, that will be okay,

If not, that is fine too, just enjoy reading, what I write,

And you all take care of yourself, alright?,

Have a great weekend, a good night.

Today's KDD: Our Anniversary,Darrell's Surgery and Sesame Script

It is May 17 Th at 3; 31,

Hope your Saturday is good, that you're having fun?

Yesterday Morning I began a KDD,

Yet, it was not meant to be,

I began composing but, then our friend Tina wrote me on MSN,

Around 7, was when,

Then, I chatted with her for an hour, not on skype,

Rather, I.M messages we would type,

Don't like this version of Windows messenger, can not hear the typing
sound, like the old versions best,

After, that conversation, went back to bed, needed some more rest.

Again, mid morning, I made the attempt again,

Then, another friend, Keri wrote me on MSN,

So, here I was typing away,

Then, had things to do later in the day.

Last night, Darrell and I celebrated our Second Wedding Anniversary,

Early, it is really on June Three,

Yet, I amon vacation now and next month Darrell may have more eye
Surgery,

So, want to use more vacation then,

Not sure When?

Or if at all?

The Retina Specialist, will Call,

Darrell's Cornea Doctor and see what he will say if more surgery he will
recommend,

And how are you my Friend?

They would like to remove the silicone oil from his eye,

And it is so hot here now, an egg you can fry,

On the sidewalk,

And both Doctors want to talk,

To see if any surgery will do Darrell any good anymore?

That just a little sight, maybe, they can restore?

Will be interesting to see what their conclusions are, what they do say,

And do you know, how much the human eyeball does weigh?

I found out the other day, it only weighs an ounce; I was surprised at this
fact,

And we all wonder, will a little sight; will Darrell be able to get back?

We don't know, but, will find out soon later in the summer, at a later date,

And as we said, last night, our Anniversary, we did celebrate.

We began with going to Dinner at the Outback, on Southern and Mc Clintoc

And then, later, to the Comfort Suites, near our block,

That may seem silly, that we did not get out of town, that we did not go
far,

Yet, keep in mind, we can not drive, don't have a car,

We would have to have someone to drive,

So, after 8 last night the hotel, we did arrive.

WE started with appetizers; I had Shrimp and Darrell Chicken Wings, and hot
bread,

Darrell Soup, and me Salad,

Then for our entrees , Darrell the ribs and me, the steak,

A leisurely dinner, we did take,

WE each had an alcoholic beverage too,

Decalf coffee and apple pecan cobbler to share, by the time we were
through,

Had great conversation, always do.

What makes the Comfort Suites so appealing to us,

We don't have to take a shuttle or a bus,

And better yet they have a hot tub; they call it a Whirlpool,

It is so very cool,

Feels so good, it massages your body, your skin it does cleanse

And we have been their with friends

Last year,

Very glad, it is near,

I actually found it, about 8 years ago,on the internet, along with this
Apartment

Very glad, we went,

Was worth the time and the price,

Our Second Wedding Anniversary was very nice.

We maximized the time in the hot tub used it three times, each time for
quite a while,

Listened to our Wedding music file

The reception is not good on the radio,

To bed late we did go

Up about 8,well, closer to 9,

Then, to IHOP, where we did dine,

Had brunch, got home around one,

Had a great time, had fun

Then, Chatted with friends on the phone, I had a lot to say,

And now, here I am Today,

Darrell was on skype, helping some friends that is great, very cool

And later, Darrell told me about a very cute tool,

Called Sesame Script, a scripting tutorial, to help someone learn, The
programming ABC's, 1, 2, 3's?

And today, there is no breeze,

Today, 97, will be the high Tuesday 108,

with weather like this, wish, we were out of state,

But, we are not, we will be for quite awhile, we will survive, will be
okay, Darrell and me,

Will keep cool with the pool and the a.C.

Well, I want to go,

Spend time with Darrell you know?

Maybe, watch a Movie? Read a book, alright?

Take good care and another time, I will write.

Today's KDD: College Degrees and The Media

It is Wednesday May 14 at 7;32,

How are things with you?

Hope all is well, that your all fine?

And did you hear about the girl missing on the Cruise Line?

Not sure which one,

And tomorrow one more day of work to be done

Then on Vacation I will be, looking forward to it, it will be great,

And 14 years ago on this date,

I Became A College Graduate

That, seems so long ago,

You know?

Most of those friends have come and gone, yet, a couple have remained

Much I have gained,

Some have stayed,

Instead of being a student, now I get paid

Not to listen to people's problems all day

Rather, to serve our Guests who stay.

I may not have them sit on the couch " , and they tell me their issues

Rather, I make sure, their room is clean, fluff up their pillows, have
tissues,

A box of Kleenex on the bedside table,

All amenities , a working TV, so, they can watch cable,

They, may not be disclosing to me what is on their mind,

But Everything, they will need in their room, they can find.

They may not be able to " get their feellingsoff their chest",

, we can give them, comfort, hopefully, so they can get some rest.

I may not be discussing with them about their Hobbies or Career,

But, they can relax, unwind, grab a beer

Sit in the Jacuzzi, or have a massage, at the Spa,

Noone, will be pointing out their flaws

Addressing the mistakes, they have made,

If, they like, Front desk, will give them an upgrade

Usually, for an additional Cost,

Or assist them, if any items, they have lost.

I will not be there, paraphrasing what they say,

But, the guest can listen to piano music play

Or sit on their patio with a view of the lake,

Or get a nice juicy steak

Whatever he wishes,

He can just relax, don't have to do any dishes

Likely meetings he or she will have to attend,

Yet, they can also visit with friends,

Ora post Card send ,

Or nothing at all,for a few days, one,Maybe weeks three?

Certainly, no electric shock Therapy

Hypnosis, desensitization, or behavior modification,

Just Guest Satisfaction, while hereon Business or vacation.

I coordinate all housekeeping projects and requests I delegate,

Make sure, the entire Property, is clean, looks great!

So, though, I may not be a therapist and solve their problems, improve
their mental health,

However in a way, I do help others, mostly those who have wealth,

From Affluent towns CEO's CFO's of Company's,

Or people from Overseas,

People whom are well traveled , and are able to spend a ton,

Or just Families, who just want to have fun,

Locally, and here to relax and get away,

It is our Guests, who keep us working day after day

Week after week,

No Psychologist, they will seek,

it will not be me, I still am applying some of the techniques I have learned

And along the way, income I have earned

Any degree, no matter what it is, can help you in life Whatever you do,

Will help you through,

Problem solving , Various skills, and how to communicate,

So, get the degree, something!,it isn't Too late!

If I can do it, so can you!,

You are just as capable too,

And if I can be on a 10 year plan and graduate at 30,with many obstacles in
my path every step of the way,

You can succeed, what do you say?

Your not alone!

And Speaking of News, in addition to The Cyclone

And the Earthquakes, all I am hearing about are Murders, and various
crimes,

As well as Politics, it is on all the time.

Though, it is important, knowing about the Presidential Candidates it is
way too much, it is all we hear in the news,

It isn't what I choose ,

To watch all day

Doesn't the media, have anything positive to say?

To add?

Why is it all Bad?

I do know the answer to the Question, unfortunately, wish more human
interest Stories, they would mention,

Read the Mountain Wings, I recently Posted, many, need to do some
introspection,

Really think about what was said there,

To be Happy! To care,

About their Country,

America, The Home of the Brave and the land of the Free,

The united States, I am happy to be,

And can't really complain, the article will make me think twice, for all I
have got,

My Family, Friends, health, my job, a home, that is a lot,

Things like this computer, that I am using to convey my thoughts

The telephone, that Darrell was chatting on to talk to his coworkers in
India and the Television on in the other room, another way to communicate
to be entertained,

So much, as Americans, we have gained.

I did not realize, it is, almost 9, need to go,

Have to get up early for work, you know?

One last day of work, and vacation will have begun,

And for now, this KDD is done.

Heartwarmers: Batting My Eye Lashes

The best thing to happen to mornings since the Sun!

Your morning thought for the day:
It still holds true that man is most uniquely
human when he turns obstacles into opportunities.
-- Eric Hoffer

We have two powerful and inspirational short stories today.
While the authors probably don't know each other, they have a
lot in common and they certainly can teach us a lot.
If you are experiencing a challenge in your life at the moment
(and who isn't?) this Heartwarmer is for you. It may be the shot in
the arm you need to take your life in a new direction -- one that
will open doors of opportunity for you that you don't even know exist.
So don't be discouraged, take heart, count your blessings and
begin your assault on what is standing in the way of a new and
wonderful life that is waiting for you.
BATTING MY EYELASHES
by Janet Perez Eckles

A baby camel asked his mother, "Why do we have such large hoofs
on our feet?"
She turned to him. "God made us that way for a very special
reason," and she began her explanation. "The big hoofs are to keep us
from sinking into the sand."
"Oh! So why do we have long eyelashes?"
"It's to protect our eyes from the sand."
"Why the big humps?"
"That is to store fat and have enough energy to go long
distances in the hot desert!"
"I see!" the baby camel stretched his neck and looked up at his
mother, "The big hoofs are to keep from sinking into the sand, the
long eyelashes are to keep the sand out of our eyes, and the humps
are to store energy to travel long distances -- then what are we
doing in this cage in the middle of a zoo?"
Like the camel, I had asked the same kind of questions. When my
blindness set in, I initially locked myself in a cage of self-pity
and bitterness.
Weary from pacing within that gloomy cage, something nudged me
to see beyond my circumstance and unfortunate plight.
Heavens! What was I thinking? Those bars were self-imposed.
But worst of all, I'd supported them with the cold metal of my
negative attitude.
Eventually, eagerness to leave my stuffy cell of discontent
prompted me to open my ears to hear a reassuring whisper -- God had
created me for much more.
Itching to break free, I broke down those bars and stepped out
into the desert of life. I trudged through the heat with
determination and drive. I endured the blistering sun with
perseverance and tenacity. I quenched my thirst with fresh
inspiration and encouragement. And the hooves of confidence kept me
from sinking into the sand of insecurity.
Thinking ahead, I made sure I'd stored a healthy supply of
wisdom and positive attitude to take me through the long haul.
Goodness gracious. Each time I reached another point in my
journey, my eyes saw a whole new world with opportunities to make a
difference. Best of all, I was delighted with the affirmation that I
was indeed created for much more!
Bars come in all sizes and shapes. Some are physical, others
are emotional or even mental. But none can withstand the force of
determination that breaks them down. The effort is worth it and the
results, simply amazing!
So, batting my long eyelashes to keep out the sand of
discouragement, I challenge you --
Step back and peek at what bars limit you. Take a deep breath,
break them down, and emerge into the freshness of a new life!

HEADS UP
by Laurel Jean

The morning's radio interviews were a success! Having just
completed a few errands, my assistant and I are looking forward to
lunch at an area Chinese restaurant before driving the forty miles
back to my office.
I exited the department store near the radio station and crossed
the parking lot. Caught up in the momentum of the day, I held my
white cane in front of me, tapping the rhythm of my footsteps, brisk
with the chill of a midday in February. As I approached the van, the
rhythmic brush of my cane against the pavement was interrupted by a
delicate, jingling sound.
My attention became like that of a child who has just seen a
glint of light reflected in a coin on the sidewalk. I gingerly
followed the length of my cane to the ground, and there I found a
penny, heads up, just waiting to be discovered.
While many people consider the penny to be a nuisance and
certainly not equated with success and achievement, finding a penny
on the sidewalk was the highlight of a busy work day for me.
According to the memory of my grandmother's folklore, this
treasure must be immediately placed in my right shoe for good luck.
I stood on one foot in the middle of the parking lot and with all of
the dignity of my twenty-something years, I slipped the coin into my
right shoe.
Throughout my childhood, I waited for this, smiling at such
treasures when they were found by the sharp eyes of my sighted
playmates.
Now, this finder's moment is mine to keep.
For the first time in my life... "Hey! I found a penny... Heads Up!"

Mountain WIngs: Turn Off The T.V and Be Happy!

MountainWings A MountainWings Moment
#8134 Wings Over The Mountains of Life
-------------------------------------------------

Turn Off the TV and Be Happy
=============================

In my years of pastoral counseling, not one counseling session
has been because of the President of the United States. Not one.
All of them have been the result of stuff the President had
nothing to do with. Personal stuff. This has much merit.

We will always have problems, issues, corruption, favoritism
and downright dishonesty. We will also always have solutions,
blessings, fairness, honesty and integrity. Yes, things need
to change, and yes, we need to be thankful for the things that
are the same.

The statement below is often credited to Jay Leno. But it
wasn't said or written by Jay, it was written by Craig R. Smith.
Only the closing paragraph of this MountainWings is by Jay Leno.
Here it goes:

The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across
some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be
true, given the source, right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67% of Americans are unhappy
with the direction the country is headed, and 69% of the
country is unhappy with the performance of the President.
In essence, two-thirds of the citizenry just ain't happy and
wants a change.

So being the knuckle dragger that I am, I started thinking,
"What're we so unhappy about?"

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24/7?
Is our unhappiness the result of having A/C in the summer and
heating in the winter?

Could it be that 95.4% of these unhappy folks have a job?
Maybe it's the ability to walk into a grocery store at any
time, and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the
last year?

Maybe it's the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the
Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers
as we move through each state?
Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we'd find
along the way that can provide temporary shelter?

I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine
from around the world is just not good enough.

Or could it be that when we wreck our cars, emergency workers
show up and provide services to help all, and even send a
helicopter to take you to the hospital.

Perhaps you are one of the 70% of Americans who own a home.
You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of
a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments
and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames, thus
saving you, your family, and your belongings.

Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen
TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a
gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your
family against attack or loss.

This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or
militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods
where 90% of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

How about the complete religious, social and political
freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world?

Maybe that's what has 67% of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we're the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats
the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the USA,
yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what
we are: the most blessed people in the world who do nothing
but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about
the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the President who took us into
war and has no plan to get us out? The President who has a
measly 31% approval rating? Is this the same President who
guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The President
who cut taxes to bring an economy out of a recession? Could
this be the same guy who's been called every name in the book
for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats
safe from terrorist attacks?

The Commander-in-Chief of an all-volunteer army that's out
there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President
is on the news or on a talk show? Did this news affect you so
much, make you so unhappy, that you couldn't take a look
around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?

Think about it. Are you upset at the President because he
actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the media
told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind
every day?

Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan
have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for
your freedom. There's currently no draft in this country. They
didn't have to go.

They're able to refuse to go and end up with either a
"general" discharge, an "other than honorable" discharge or,
worst case scenario, a "dishonorable" discharge after a few
days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontent in the minds of 69% of
Americans? Say what you want, but I blame it on the media. If
it bleeds, it leads; and they specialize in bad news.
Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many
will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media
knows this, and media outlets are for-profit corporations.
They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend
their actions by justifying them in one way or another.

Stop buying the negativism you're fed every day by the media.
Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for
the bottom of your birdcage. Then start being grateful for
all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good
than bad.

We're among the most blessed people on Earth, and should thank
God several times a day, or at least be thankful and
appreciative.

With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides,
flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one
end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist
attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of
the Pledge of Allegiance?

Last KDD for Today: China Quake Toll reaches 10,000 and about" Lock Bumping"

I did not intend to compose another KDD today,
Until some News in my in-box, was sent my way,
I am sure, you all heard about the Earth Quake in Central China?, 10,000
were killed, that did you know?,
and heard tomorrow, Flagstaff Arizona will get snow.

Yes, 10,000 are dead and it is unknown, how many are trapped under
concrete and steal, the worse in 3 decades, how devastating ,
a 7.9 magnitude, was the rating,
of the Quake. 900 were students,in a High School Near Beijing
I cannot Imagine,such a thing,
and I don't want to ever experience anything,

Today's KDD: Home Improvement or Home Disasters? lol

In my opinion, there is not much good programs on, so, Often, we don't turn
on the TV set,

Would rather, read a book, or play on the internet,

However, there are some shows, that I like and find funny,

Wish, we could customize our cable. certainly save us money,

Not as much each month we would have to pay,

Some people, will watch TV all day,

All day long, just veg out,

For me, that is not what life is all about.

Too many reality shows,

Would rather, listen to music on our Bose

Radio,

Or out to dinner, I'd go,

You have, " American Idol" and Dancing with the Stars",

Or if folks are not watching TV, they are hanging out at the Bars,

There is too much mindless entertainment, or too much drinking,

Rather, then, being informed, actually doing some thinking,

Something worthwhile,

It is just, not my style,

Our Society is diteriating , Too much junk on the tube today,

What happened to kids, going outside to play?

I know, it is no longer safe to do that, so, that is why, they are
watching shows,

playing video's,

Going to the movies more, they should be reading,

More after School programs they are needing,

fun activities to stimulate their brain or exercise,

or ones to strengthen Family Ties,

No more sitting at the table, this is not often done

We all need to find more things fun,

I do worry about the future for the Children of today,

and we all need to work, but also do play.

I am not saying, one should not relax and find humor as an excellent way,

To unwind, after a long day,

That, is what I do,

To help me, get through,

As well as write,

At night,

Yet, I honestly, don't think there is much on at all,

As said, I would rather be on the net, or a good friend call.

I enjoy watching " Home Improvement", it is a really good show,

And I can not do any of that stuff, that, you may know?,

About me?

Mrs. Good Wrench, I kind of would like to be?.

Yet, I don't like tools and Industrial Arts

Don't like to disassemble things, examine its parts,

two very close friends Keri and Tina, that do

I wouldn't know where to begin, wouldn't have a clue,

On how to put a vacuum together or fix an air condition,

That, is not at all my mission,

For me, it is about servicing others or writing a novel some day,

Not with tools, I want to play,

Though, I thought about listening to the blind Handy-man show,

On ACB Radio,

So much more, about Home improvement, I would know,

And how to do some of these things without sight

But, the real question, would be, would I do it right? lol

I think not?, Who knows, maybe I will ?

It would all depend,

Likely, a professional, we would have to send,

Would have to hire, for the job to complete,

I don't think, I could even repair a toilet seat,

Caulk a tub, repair a drain?

That, is not how, works, my brain,

I am not mechanically inclined

Don't have that kind of mind.

I would like to know, how to do basic things here,

Yet, I am no engineer

And either is Tim the " Tool Man Taylor" on the home Improvement show ,
Starring Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson,

Back in the 90's , this show begun,

Not sure, how long it was on the air, now,its on Cable,

And Tim'sCharacter , isn't able

To really do the job properly, but, loves Power

It's a show within a show, lasts half an hour,

He is always getting hurt and making mistakes

Blowing up things or stuff breaks

The audience thinks it is quite humorous indeed,

His co-host Al,Of " tool Time", he does need.

Another dimension of this show, is the relationship between Men and Women
too,

The scenario's they find themselves, are quite true

And are issues that us all have each day,

How we cope with problems, by the things we do and say,

Every day of the week,

On the show, Answers from their Next Door Neighbor Wilson they seek,

to issues He does Philosophize,

is quite wise,

The Neighbor Wilson, stands behind the Fence,

Provides Tim or Jill with a Philosophical response, and to Tim, it doesn't
make sense

Then, when, Relays the conversation with his wife Jill he messes up what
Wilson had Said, loses the real meaning, interprets it all wrong

But, somehow, after 30 minutes, they once again, they are getting along,
lol

Like every show, the dilemma is resolved in 30 minutes or less not at all
Reality,

Not for you and me

And the rest of the world, but, it is just entertainment, under time
constraints, only so much they can write

To show, in one night?

And is this a mindless KDD?

Maybe, you will agree?

It is now, 11;53

No News I am here to report,

I amoff today,Just taking it easy, it has been quite busy, at the resort,

And so nothing,I have done today,

Should begin the grocery order for Safeway

And do that before the day is over,

And last night, there was a really good " Home Make-over,

At least,I think so,

And I really should go,

Get on my way,

Take care all, have a great day,

I will compose some more later, on another date,

Maybe, a Current Event Article, here, I will debate?

Tell you what is happening here, for Darrell and I?

For now, saying good bye,

Enjoy your 12 th day of May,

Hope a nice day you have had,

And 14 years ago, I became a College Grad,

In Human Studies, got my B.A in Psychology

That was a Major accomplishment for me,,

Better, go, said I would,

So, take it easy, be good.

Special KDd: My Relationship with My Mom

I am thinking about my Mother Jo Anne, I chatted with her today,

Her and Dad, live a couple Thousand Miles away

They live In New Hampshire, to me she is Dear,

Don't see my Family much, especially since I now live here,

In Arizona, ever since 95, when, I Attended the CCB,

Every other year, Mom and Family, Darrell and I do see,

The Colorado Center for the blind,, ,

She is often on my mind ,

Wonder how they are, how they have been,

Reflecting back, to when I was about 10,

And even the years in New Jersey, when much younger, Very little Karen,

She was nurturing, supportive and Caring.

Both her and Dad helped me on the pattering program, through it all,

Every since, I can remember, I do recall,

They taught me to walk, talk, run and crawl,

Developmentally, they needed me to get up to speed,

Keep up with children my age, learn to read,

And do other things,

She would give me Tea parties and with me would play on the swings,

Our teeter totter in our backyard,

In School, she expected me to work hard,

So, would Dad,

And if, I was bad,

I would be punished we were disciplined, structure, they did provide,

But, she also taught me how to ride

When I was 3,my trike,

Then older, my two-wheeler bike,

Yet, the training wheels I did need, but, she spent the time, she did,

She did her best, to allow me to be a normal kid.

She would read me stories at bedtime and give me a bath,

And , Though, Dad was the one, who helped me in math,

She was also really involved in my Education, help me every step of the
way,

Was their on every Graduation day,

As well as When, I became a Bride,

And though, she was happy, maybe, she cried?

She attend the High School Musical I was in and the Choir Concerts,

And tried to make me feel better, when I was upset or got hurt.

She was over protective, I must say,

Yet, she did not mind , that I did play

When, I was born, I was not only blind, but, had a injury to my brain,

My folks, made sure, I could learn, information I could retain

By age 5, I was ready for Kindergarten,

Gave me my milk money, it was in a small Carton,

I am sure, that was a special day for her? and for me, myself and I?,

I think, I had fun, and did not cry?

She taught me how to eat, bathe and to dress

And was there when I read my first Book, Ballerina Bess

She helped me with vocabulary and to write,

And was there in the Hospital with me, when I lost my sight,

When, I had the flu and Chicken Pox,

As well as, at College, first blind, help me to organize my closet and
match my socks

Since, I couldn't yet efficiently read Braille, she used puffy paint , it
was raised, and it, I could read,

Was there, when I hurt myself, my left foot, it did bleed

That, was back in 84,

And I do remember, the walks on the shore,

Did Show me sea life in Maine, on the beach

And other things, she would teach,

Help with Geography and long division,

And was there, after surgery, to re-patch my eye, was careful, not to tare
the incision

We played vocabulary games and ones to learn fractions too,

Other activities with my sisters and I, she would do,

She was the Leader of our Brownie troop, and encouraged me, when I took
Ballet

Or an instrument I wanted to play

First, the Clarinet, the flute and last the Piano

Then, years, later, to ski in snow,

Or swim, When on vacations, in Kennebunkport we would go,

She would go on class field trips, like to the Museum or the U N,

Also, taught me to handwrite with a pen.

She would take us to have picnics in the park or to the zoo,

Or we would play board games, like, scrabble or monopoly ,not clue

Or ,Card games, like go Fish,

And on our Birthday's, would make our Favorite dish

And cake

And would put our favorite sandwhich's,snacks, special notes in our lunch,

And at home, would make her infamous, Mc egg sandwich for brunch,

Or waffles with peanut butter and honey

And always, made sure we had on sun block on, when, it was hot and sunny,

And made us chicken soup or hot chocolate, when, it was blistering cold
outdoors,

And taught me how to do chores

Clean my room, bathrooms, vacuum, dust and Laundry,

Independent, she wanted us to be,

Sometimes cook,

They had the same expectations, extra time, she took,

To show me, since, I had limited sight,

As well as taught me values, wrong from right.

Of course, like any relationship, it wasn't perfect no relationship is,
but, still, she is great

Over, the years, we couldn't always effectively communicate

And each other, we did and still not always understand,

But, she tries to be supportive, in the jobs I land

And when, I was in College and wanted to change majors for a second time
,transfer schools and move out west, ,

She did not always agree, but, did her best,

To encourage me yet, sometimes we would argue

, , However, always saw it through,

Many times in High School, She would tell me, No discussion! I would ask
why?

Thought she was unfair, did not understand, and I would cry,

Go to my room, and be upset and Sad,

And Later, Mom would feel bad.

We always Work it out, Growing up, especially as a teen, we had conflicts
a lot,

Despite all this, love her a lot

She is my Mom, after all,

She was there, from the time I was small, till today,

And even though, I am so far away,

I do miss her, and know, I can depend

Not as close to her, as my friends,

But, know, if I really needed her, she would be there for me,

And, that is how it should be

So, though, Mom, I cannot be home for your special day,

Sending you Mother's Day wishes, from far away,

Hope your day, is a great one,

And now, this Mother's Day dose is done.
Love you Mom, Happy Mother's Day!

EATING LEMONS WITH MOM
by James Colasanti Jr.

My home has always been a very special place to me and the
kitchen has always been the heart of my home.
I can remember the day before I left for college, August 1967,
sitting at the old red and white Formica topped kitchen table with my
mother, Mary.
Every Sunday afternoon each of us had a small dish with a big
fat fresh lemon, a knife, and a shaker of coarse salt. Sometimes the
lemons were picked from our own lemon tree and sometimes they came
from the store. But they were always the biggest and the juiciest
that we could find.
My mother's old world wisdom was, "If life hands you lemons, sit
down, consider the situation, take out your paring knife, peel away
the problem, sprinkle it with coarse salt to make it more palatable,
and eat them. Your life will always be better."
And she was right. My mother had come from Sicily in the 1920s.
Her dreams of becoming a high school English teacher never
materialized. Due to financial circumstances she was forced to work
in a garment factory to help her family with expenses.
But aside from being an expert leather coatmaker, she also
became the best cook in her family even outshining her three sisters
in Italian cuisine.
There wasn't anything she couldn't cook -- three-meat lasagna,
Italian bread, pizza from scratch, soft-breaded veal cutlets, and an
array of different vegetables and fruits -- most of which came from
my father's garden.
She was also a real whiz with a pressure cooker. My father
would bring in ears of corn fresh picked from the tall cornstalks in
the back yard and in minutes we would have steaming hot sweet corn
drizzled in fresh homemade butter. Each meal was different and each
was just a little bit of heaven.
Often our neighbors witnessed my mother and her sister, Tina, on
their hands and knees manicuring the lawn with a small knife and a
large brown paper bag. What they were really doing was rooting out
the dandelion greens from the grassy yard. We would have big plates
of salad made from dandelions (a great source of vitamins and iron)
saturated with a homemade Caesar dressing made from red-wine vinegar,
anchovies, and extra-virgin olive oil. And this was all free for the
taking with Mother Nature providing the ingredients.
In addition to feeding her immediate family, mother always made
sure the animals were fed and we always had a lot of animals. Though
we lived within the city limits, we had chickens, rabbits, cats, and
a dog.
When I was a teenager, our family dog, Butchy, passed away at
the ripe old age of 16. It was absolutely devastating to everyone
because she had grown up with me and she was a real member of the
family. She had been my protector and my companion for all those
years.
My mother knew in her heart that my father could not stand the
sight of the empty dog house for long. One day without telling
anyone, my father went to the animal shelter and adopted a 2-year old
Collie-Shepherd mix and named him Pal.
Pal was my father's dog. He listened to him and to him alone.
He obeyed my mother because she always brought the food dish but he
was always at my father's side.
Pal had to learn to eat like an Italian. We never fed our cats
and dogs "bagged" food. They always ate what we ate and there was
never a thin dog or thin cats at our house.
Because I was their only child and the only family member to have
gone to college, there was a real celebration the night before I
left. For a going-away treat, my mother made her Sicilian
country-style Italian meatballs with homemade pasta. It was a divine
meal that would remain in my mind and my heart forever.
The next day, we stood in our front yard waiting for my ride to
college, the old 1919 three-story gray frame house dwarfing us as we
stood silently. Although I am not a very tall person, I towered over
my parents who were barely 5-feet tall.
As the car approached we said our "goodbyes" and I shook hands
with my father. It was the Italian-thing to do.
My mother grabbed me, hugged me, and whispered in my ear, "Go
make great memories, but make sure you make them with dignity so you
will always be proud to look back on them."
As the car pulled away I turned and looked back.
There they stood -- the smallest couple in size, but in stature
they held the biggest part of my heart.

Today's KDD: " Just called to say I love you" and writing the old Fashioned Way

It is Saturday May 10, at 10; 02,

How are you?

How is your day?

Our Friend Tina, did say,

That Dougie should be co-author of this blog, send an image of his Paws on
the F & the J ,that would be cute to see,

If you're not sure what I am referring to read last night's KDD. Lol

I know most of my posts are not serious at all,

And Today our Mom's, we are going to call

As you know, Tomorrow is Mothers Day, I have to work, so, today, and we will
call instead,

And I know, silly humorous things you have red,

Here, on my blog,

Some about Dougie Dog,

Yet, about many other things too,

Did not plan on writing anything new,

Doing any creating here from the Keyboard,

And this morning, sipping coffee, listening to Eagles, a live record,

Recording, of their music composed a long time ago,

And last night we listened to Debbie's show,

Called the Relationship Connection, only one hour, wish it would be two,
like it was in the past,

And Darrell and I thought about doing a podcast,

Attempting to use the Web Cam and send a pic to my site,

Of Dougie, but, it would likely take someone with sight,

To make it look symmetrical, look right,

And speaking of symmetry makes me think of my ceramics class I took,

And commented to Darrell, maybe, some day, I would write a KDD book?

When I hit 1,000 on this site,

The best ones I did write?

I have had some, suggest that already, it wasn't mine only the best,

And tomorrow is a walk for the Cancer Society, for Breast

Not Ovarian, lung or prostate,

Do hope your day is great?

The Walk is 3 miles, and here at Tempe Town Lake, in the Park, 7; 30 A.m
does it begun Hyatt often is involved with things like this, unfortunately,
we did not donate much money,

And did you find the D-mail post to be cute and Funny?

We did not raise much,

And with my family need to keep more in touch,

Just get so busy, so caught up with what is happening here at work and
home, this is typical for us all,

But, they, much more often I should call,

And maybe write?

I am just so tired, at night,

After working all day and at the office I talk on the phone,

And yesterday, those of us who donated, could wear Jeans but, they, I don't
own,

Not a single pair in a decade or two,

I don't like them as much when they are stiff and new,

I like all clothing old and worn, Jeans, when they are faded

And I like most cheese, even if it is grated

My favorite is cheddar

The block is of course better,

And it made me think of a favorite hang out in Cincinnati, called Skyline
Chili, love their Chili dogs foot long, they were,

Delicious, that is for sure,

We would go after a home football game, on Friday night's not after the
mall,

And no, I did not like football,

Just had school spirit, in 9 TH grade, wanted to be a Cheer Leader but,
popular I wasn't, not in the "in-Crowd" Understand,

And my sister Mary Beth, played the Clarinet in the Marching Band,

Was very cool, during halftime, they would March, do things like figure 8's,

And in 82, we moved out of the state,

Back to Jersey, back to the Garden state,

Where, High School I did graduate.

Wow, I really, went off track, an wrote about another subject, that I did
not intend to do

Not sure, when this, Dose will be through?

Perhaps, I will send snail mail again, like I had done a long time ago?

That, about me, did you know?

Some do,

It is true

I first wrote to my grandparent's, started writing when I was about8,

They, thought it was great.

I would often, write, several times a week in fact,

Quite a stack,

Write then, my Cousin Kelly, and friends, when I lived out of State

Sometimes I would be up early or late,

When Kutztown University a Teacher's College in P A, I would attend,

Numerous of letters I would send

To my Family and friends,

And each wasn't short, approximately, 2 to 8 pages,

And many times, had to write in stages. Lol

Yet, I enjoyed it very much ,

And it was a wonderful way for us all to stay in touch,

And my Family and friends they would write,

And, I stopped, when I lost my sight,

For a long time, since most I handwrote with a pen,

I used a typewriter, When,

I couldn't see anymore, then, I got a computer, a 3 8 6,

The issue, it was again, fixed,

Yet, I only did that for awhile, was still adjusting to my blindness and
trying to complete my degree,

So, understand, you see,

That is why I have-not written in a long time, pages,

Yet, now, it would not take long, wouldn't have to write in stages,

To most , I just send e-mail, the rest the old fashioned way,

They wouldn't get my letter, the same day,

But, that is okay,

One, they wil still receive, think, this I will again, try and do,

Maybe, send one to you?

Forgot to mention, the other day, A guest, his Girfriend, he did propose,

And another KDd, I do compose,

Don't know, if they will be getting Married, just made sure, the room
looked nice,

Know, Concierge had Baloons,Maybe, Champaign on Ice?

Maybe Chocolate covered Strawberry's and some Wine ?

At one of our Restaurants they did Dine?

Well, now,its 11;08,

Getting late,

The day is slipping away,

Want to relax with Darrell and Mom, do call,

So, take good care, all.

Today's KDD: D-Mail

Our Friend Nickie, will often write a post about her Golden Retriever Guide
Dog Julio. I not only like the posts Nickie, you write from your
perspective, but also Julio's. They are very funny. Darrell and I were
talking about writing e-mail tonight ,how I love to write and we were
joking about Dougie writing e-mail to his friends. and, that is how this
silly KDD evolved. Look below. Have a great night.

From what I hear,Most everyone uses a computer with a monitor or
something, called Jaws,
but, just because I have a snout, tail and Paws,
I can not send mail?
what?, there is a policy that says, you can not have a tail?

to be able to read and write?
I may sometimes Bark, but I don't bite,

and I am a good boy, most of the time, yet, I know, spoiled I am,
but,if I had a chance to write, I wouldn't send spam
or send you adds from E-bay,
and I am not as creative as Mommy, so, cannot send Doses of the day,
She calls these KDD's,
and some of you know, I love Carrots, not cheese,
but, I am sure, I would eat it,if it fell, near my nose
and guess, a DDD, I do compose?

Yet, I am not Daddy at all,not like him,
and unlike some Golden Retrievers, I don't like to swim.

I am not stupid though, I will splash around,on the first and second step
just to keep cool,
but, don't understand why, you humans love a pool?
Or the Ocean?
Yet, I do love to lick off your suntan lotion, lol

Especially Boys and Men they just dive in,not a big deal,
but, girls, like Mommy, do scream and squeal,
hate getting splashed, she will slowly go down the steps and ease her
way,for her,that is fine,
will take her sweet time. :) lol

So, anyway, got distracted sometimes, it is hard to think,
I only like water, to drink
from my bowl, or a dirty puddle or the toilet,
but, as I was saying, I too, would like to surf the net,
as they say
the information highway, not sure, what they mean by that,
I do know, I would have fun with a cat,
my favorite cat is Mew,
you would like her too.
She has a Sister, named Jascinda, she is my girlfriend like her ears,
and that tail,
and even the coat, that is Blonde, pale,
she is a cutie, a hotty ,
yet, she has a strange way,of going potty. lol

she is afraid of Thunder, what a wuss
but, we can't be perfect, she has a cute puss,
love that smile, she makes my heart sing a sweet tune,
and I will see her soon.
In a couple weeks, Mommy and Daddy are friends with her folks they are
coming for Memorial day,
we all will have fun and play. :)
I am glad they are close, good friends of ours,
I don't like baths or showers,
or flowers
yet, I love to dig in the dirt,
and I am quite sensitive, and easily get hurt,
When, Mommy is away
even in the next room, that,is not okay,
She is my life line , a Mamma's boy,I pout and sometimes cry,
Jascinda, calls me a wimp, asks why,
I can not stand on my four feet?
don't know? but think, sending D -mail would be really neat. :) lol

So come on, what do you say?
Hey, Cinda and Julio, what do you think? that is more then okay?
that, would be great!
You humans,you do debate,
but, what about D-Mail, we would like to send,
to our friends?.

Hey, you, my Cousin Olli
would love to connect with you two,or meet a Collie,
I would love to have a pen Pal, a dog of another Breed
but, first, an a-mail address I would need.

and Olli, we can chat more then just around Holiday's and Summer,
You know, it would be funner,
and I promise, I would not take your toys, I would share,
I know, that isn't fair,
When, I do that, I am being bad,
yet, if you were more then my Cousin , I would be glad.

Tell your Mom, to help me out,
Does she doubt,
That it can be done?
Did anyone try, take a chance, gamble?
do they think, just in Canine, we ramble?
spout On?
just dry out the grass on the lawn?
sleep all day?
stay home, bark at the neighbors and play?
some of us, go to the lake,
While others a van or a bus we do take,
to work and help our owners get around,
While other Mutts, wait, looking to be sprung from the Pound,
and find a Home,
They don't want to roam,
Maybe,if they had D-mail, they would be well adjusted, be alright,
if, somehow, you humans, can find a way for us Hounds to write?

can't someone invent a way for us to type?
we can at least chat on skype?
or we could type with our tongues , they are longer then yours ?
we may walk on all fours,
and don't have thumbs, but,are very smart do have a brain,
some information , we can retain.
So,let us send D-Mail,
G for google mail,
or C mail for Cisco
D for Dog mail, you know?

I would love to write,or chat, even if we play phone tag,
will send you a surprise ,nothing, to scoop up with a shovel or pickup
with a bag,
Rather, a short little note,a line,me do drop,
my tail, will flop
will give you a big sloppy kiss
if, you find a way for me to do this,
I would love more then just Carrots and Kibble,
and I will not write dribble,
or just chomp on ice,
To you ,I would be extra nice,
So help me to create an account ?
even though, I cannot at all Count,
or know , how to use Tide,
unlike Most dogs, I can guide,
Maybe, I should watch Sesame street or Captain Kangaroo?
to be in the same league with you?
it should not, what ones race species or Ethnicity,
just, the type of animal, that would like to be,
aren't you an equal opportunity E-mail writer?
if your not, I could be a Biter,
but, its not my cup of kibble , I am tame,
so, let me and other dogs play the game?
write?
think about it,okay? and have a good night.:) lol lol

Last KDD for Today : 4 1 1

We all know that Dialing 4-11 will give you information, right?

Isn't it amazing, 411 posts, I have on my site?

It may not be the type of information you're looking for, that you need,

But, hope you find it to be an interesting read,

Worthwhile, to some degree, is my site?

The things, I do write?

It may not provide you with phone numbers, names, and addresses of where
the person or business will be,

Rather, much about me. ,

I may not give you technical information, like on Main Menu on ACB Radio,

Yet, I will tell you the places I have been and Where I would like to go

What I was like as a child, what I did to play,

And what I do today,

What I believe, my life experiences, that shaped my personality, how it did
form,

As well as send you all inspirational messages, to encourage you to
whether any storm,

To support, to help you obtain your goals, for your dreams to reach,

And tell you about how I love the Beach,

About my life

Before and after, I became Darrell, you're Wife.

From the time I was small, a very young Hughes,

As well as occasionally, provide you with some hard news

From my point of view,

Is it filled with Substance? Have some Value?

Hope that is the case?

Those who read , you don't find it a waste?,

There are many things you could be doing and reading instead,

Rather, Then, look at the things, I have done and said,

Yet, I am very grateful for this, these Posts I am happy to write,

So, don't stop reading, what I send to the site,

Okay? Unless, you find them interesting no more, go elsewhere,

For those who do stay, I will continue to share

I wonder how long, it will take to reach 9 1 1?

Several more months of work, at the hotel, will be done,

Yet, it will all be fun.

I wonder what my life will be like then?, Will I have a career

Will Darrell and I be living here?

None of us, know our fate,

That, is what makes it all great,

Well, it is getting late, 2;32,

I have more housework to do,

I cannot believe, about WGBH, and the DVS,Videos,

And did not think, two KDD's today, I would compose,

I really have enjoyed those Descriptive Videos, on my VCR, when watching
a movie, such a difference, it did make,

Other ways, they could still provide them, steps, they could take,

Just my opinion, what is worse, is not having the CAPTCHA, not the Audio,

If you're not aware, of them hacking google's site, what the CAPTCHA is
for,

Go to Darrell's Blog And read up on more,

For now, I need to go clean the kitchen floor,

other tasks,, I also need to do,

Will crank some music, makes it fun and helps me get through,

So, need to get on my way,

Hope you have had a wonderful day.
